While attention shifts to planting, grain marketing remains a key part of spring planning. Volatility in commodity markets can present both risks and opportunities, and having a proactive strategy matters.
Talbot Elevators supports producers with:
Forward contracting options
Basis contracts
Storage solutions
Market insight and pricing tools
Spring is an excellent time to:
Consider pricing opportunities during seasonal rallies
Begin developing a new crop marketing plan
We’re here to help you make informed, confident marketing decisions.
As livestock operations transition through seasonal changes, nutrition plays a critical role in maintaining herd health and performance.
Spring considerations often include:
Adjusting rations as forage inventories change
Managing variable feed quality
Supporting animals through temperature fluctuations
Preparing for pasture turnout
Whether you’re evaluating forage tests, refining mineral programs, or planning ahead for silage season, Talbot Elevators is ready to support your operation with both products and expertise.
Spring represents opportunity. It’s a season built on optimism, hard work, and careful planning. At Talbot Elevators, we’re proud to partner with farm families across our region — not just as a supplier, but as a trusted advisor invested in your long-term success.
If you’re finalizing seed decisions, reviewing grain contracts, or evaluating feed programs, now is the time to connect with our team.
Let’s make this spring one of strong starts and strong finishes.

Late Summer Checklist: Feed Planning & Scouting Tips for Corn and Soybeans
As we move through August, livestock producers and grain growers alike are deep into planning mode. At Talbot Elevators, we work with farmers who rely on us not only for grain handling but for the health of their herds and crops. Whether you’re scouting soybeans or topping up your feed bins, here’s what we recommend keeping an eye on this month.
Work with your Nutrition Consultant to Customize your Diets based on those Forage Samples.
Tip: Our mill has a number of general diets we can provide you with, if needed we are able to customize as well. Custom rations or bulk ordering? Give us a call to schedule ahead — it’s never too early.
Soybeans are in critical stages right now. Look for signs of:
White mould in dense canopies
Septoria brown spot on lower leaves
Sudden Death Syndrome or root rot in wet patches
Scout early in the day when dew helps highlight foliar symptoms. Keeping tabs now can help with fungicide decisions and long-term management.
Walk your corn fields and do the "pinch and dig":
Pinch stalks to check strength and look for early lodging
Dig up roots and check for compaction, rot, or insect damage
Pull a few ears from random spots and check kernel development
Pro tip: Now is also the time to assess hybrid performance and consider what worked (and what didn’t) for next year.
As temperatures start to dip and forage quality shifts, feed conversion efficiency can change — especially in finishing livestock. Ask us about ration tweaks to maximize gain as you head into the cooler months.
We carry a full range of livestock feeds and supplements, and we’re happy to help you match product to performance goals.
At Talbot Elevators, we’re more than just a grain elevator. We’re your year-round partner in planning, production, and performance. If you’re dealing with crop quality concerns, looking to book feed, or need support with grain marketing, our team is here to help.

This summer marks an incredible milestone: 20 years of Talbot Elevators Ltd serving the farming families of Aylmer and beyond!
From unloading our very first grain truck back in 2005 to becoming a trusted name in grain handling, feed, and seed supply, it’s been an amazing journey—one built on hard work, relationships, and community roots.
What started as a local elevator with a simple goal—to serve our neighbours with honest, reliable service—has grown into a full-service hub for:
Grain services
Livestock feed (bulk, tote & bagged)
Custom seed orders and support
Behind every bushel, pellet, and bag is a team who farms too—meaning we treat your needs like our own.
This 20-year milestone wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of:
Local farm families who trust us each season
Our dedicated team who show up rain or shine
The community who helped build us from the ground up
Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or just joined the Talbot family, thank you. Your support has made all the difference.
We’re not slowing down, we’re excited for what lies ahead.
