Attempt AP courses in your areas of strength.
Continue earning the best grades possible. Grades are one very important factor in an admission decision!
Take the PSAT 10 and evaluate your strengths.
Attend university admission sessions and learn about each campus and their requirements.
Use MaiaLearning to continue updating your Experiences and building onto your Resume.
Revisit your Interest Profiler and Personality results and Career Plan in MaiaLearning. Are they still relevant to your current interests?
Visit college campuses during Spring Break or in the summer.
If you have a college major already in mind, plan to take classes next year that are related to the field.
Continue exploring your interests over the summer.
Grade 11
Fall:
Meet with the College Counselor and review your graduation requirements.
Request your transcript and review your overall grades and GPA:
Does it mirror the Freshman Profile/Entry Requirements of the college(s) you're interested in?
Revisit your Interest Profiler and Personality results and Career Plan in MaiaLearning. Are they still relevant to your current interests?
Begin building your college list using the Universities/Considering tab in MaiaLearning.
Attend College Planning Night and schedule regular meetings with the College Counselor.
Take the PSAT-NMSQT, and potentially qualify for National Merit scholarships (U.S. citizens).
Continue attending university admission sessions to learn the latest updates.
Spring:
Continue your college search and meet with the College Counselor regularly.
Attend Lunch 'N Learn and all other college planning sessions/presentations.
Use MaiaLearning to continue updating your Experiences and building onto your Resume.
Register for the SAT and English Proficiency exams, if required.
You may also build your list around colleges/regions that are test flexible or test optional.
Build your Senior year schedule around potential college majors.
Request 2 Letters of Recommendation from teachers who know you well.
Decide if you will apply Early Action/Decision in the Fall and prepare accordingly.
Visit universities over Spring Break or in the summer.
Continue exploring your interests over the summer.
Grade 12
Fall:
ENJOY YOUR SENIOR YEAR!
Meet with the College Counselor regularly.
Request your transcript and review your graduation requirements.
Attend the Senior Retreat and begin the application process.
Submit the More About Me survey in MaiaLearning for the Counselor recommendation.
Check that your teacher recommendation requests were fulfilled.
Register for the October SAT and any English Proficiency exams, if necessary.
It is the responsibility of the Student to ensure that all standardized test scores are sent to the colleges that require them. The College Counselor will not have access to official SAT or English Proficiency exam scores.
Triple check your colleges' admissions checklists and deadlines and complete all requirements early-don't submit at the last minute!
Check your email regularly for messages from the colleges inviting you to their respective applicant portals-very important!
Double check all portals and ensure that your checklist is complete.
If admitted Early Decision, notify the College Counselor asap, and withdraw any other applications that you submitted. Pay the enrollment deposit asap.
Continue to earn the best grades possible; your colleges will request your Fall grades.
Notify the College Counselor of all admission decisions.
Spring:
Request midyear reports as needed.
Submit remaining applications ahead of their deadlines!
Diligently check your email for updates from your colleges.
Continue to earn the best grades possible; most admission offers are Conditional!
Notify the College Counselor when you decide which college you will enroll at. Ensure you pay the enrollment deposit on time.
Discuss Housing with your family and pay any necessary deposits.
Request your final transcript to be sent to the college you've chosen.
Request your AP exam scores to be sent to your intended college via the CollegeBoard website, if necessary.
