Find and stretch unfamiliar words using: blends, digraphs, chunks of sound, rhyme & word endings. Read High Frequency words quickly & make links to other words to develop vocabulary. Read on to gather more information so I work out words & predict with more accuracy Re-read to confirm, self-monitor (Cross- check) and to self-correct errors. Discuss pictures, character, setting, problem, plot, own experiences & make predictions. Be able to show what a paragraph is. Use book terminology eg print, text, title, cover, author, spine, illustrations. Show features including headings, diagrams, table of contents and indexes. Make the story sound more interesting by using more print conventions & punctuation. Read story fluently & with accurate phrasing. Create a personal response to the text & share. Accept others points of view. Retell the story in sequence. Identify simple ideas from non-fiction text. Make inferences and accept other peoples point of view. Make comparisons between books. Identify the differences between different types of texts. Recognise that authors write for different purposes and write for an audience. Ask and answer questionsLearning Steps...I am learning to:
