Welcome to the Summit Trail Middle School Library! With over 14,000 items available, we have something for everyone. Whether you're looking for a great story, a graphic novel, an audiobook, or research materials, we have a huge selection. Get started with your catalog search above!
All library materials are due Monday, June 6th. Get your books turned in to avoid fines. Uncleared fines will follow you to next year. See Ms. Baker or Ms. Armstrong if you have any questions.
Book Returns. If you have any school library materials to return, use the return slot at the front desk. There are no late fines, but items more than 30 days overdue are marked as "lost" and a fine is assessed. Returning the book will cancel the fine. (You can also return a library book from one of the elementary schools in Tahoma to STMS and we will return it to its home school). If you’re not sure if you have items checked out, you can also log into the school library catalog and select "My Stuff" and "Checkouts". You can also self-renew a book (if it is not already overdue or being held for another student).
When you visit, you can find a seat in our reading lounge to read today's newspaper or a magazine, or just chat with friends.
You can take a break by creating origami, playing board games, or coloring.
Need some help with a research project? Talk with one of our librarians, they love to help students find the perfect resource.
We also host student projects throughout the year. Make sure to stop by and check out the latest displays!Tahoma Databases:
Tahoma has several subscription databases available to support students and staff. The district and buildings, along with state support, pay for these well-vetted resources. They include access to thousands of newspapers, magazines, books, pictures, maps, audio and video files and websites. Three popular databases:
Discovery Education- login using your gotahoma email address and your district password.
Gale ebooks-Out of district password=school
Gale Middle School in Context-Out of district password=school
Accessing and Using Gale in Context-Middle School
The STMS library has two types of audiobooks.
Hand-held audiobooks (Playaways and GoReaders) that can be checked out from the front desk in the library. You supply earbuds or headphones and we supply the book and batteries.
Digital audiobooks- Browse titles in Destiny Discover (the catalog) or search specific titles to see if we have the audiobook. If the title indicates you can open from the catalog, it is a digital audiobook or ebook. Login to check out and you can listen any where you have internet access.
In addition to a large collection of Gale ebooks for research, we also have some fiction ebooks. These can be found by searching the catalog, and similar to digital audiobooks, you can log in to check these out and read through any internet browser.
All you need is your Tahoma student number! Read eBooks and listen to downloadable audiobooks as well as have free access to hundreds of databases for fun and learning. Check out the KCLS Student Account page for more information!
June has been designated as Pride Month, a time to celebrate and lift up the diverse contributions of the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) people, past and present. The Tahoma School District, including Summit Trail Middle School, stands in solidarity with our LGBTQ students, parents and staff and celebrate the contributions of LGBTQ citizens to our community, nation and world. Here are some of the fiction and non-fiction books with LGBTQ+ characters and themes recommended and available from the STMS library (as well as the KCLS library for access over the summer).
Summer reading suggestions from STMS students.

Can students print to the library?
Yes! If you need an assignment printed, you can send it to the library printer. The library printer's name is ST-LIB-PL1. It is pre-loaded on all student Chromebooks. DO NOT print multiple copies. If you need more than one copy, there is also a copy machine that you can request copies for school- related purposes.
