We use multiple data points to qualify students for MAP. All students in grades K-5 are given the nationally normed Star Math Assessment three times per year. This assessment is a research-based screener and provides teachers with data for each student’s level of math proficiency. If a student’s score on the Star Assessment screener indicates that they might need additional math support, we triangulate a few other pieces of data to verify that all the data tells the same story. Some additional data points that we might consider when making our final recommendations for MAP services are: MasterTrack Benchmark Assessment, Smarter Balanced Assessment, and Illustrative Math end-of-unit assessments.
MAP teachers continually monitor students’ progress, and students may enter or exit the MAP program as needed. Both teachers and parents will be notified if a student's services change.
