Scoping work was undertaken inform the establishment of a new National Mental Health Consumer Organisation (NMHCO).
Work was undertaken by Mental Health Australia (MHA) and overseen by a Consumer Reference Group to develop governance and operational resources for the consumer peak body.
The Productivity Commission Inquiry into Mental Health recommended that the Government fund two separate peak bodies to represent the views of people with mental illness, including families and carers.
Scoping work was undertaken by the National Mental Health Commission (NMHC) to scope the lived and living experience peak bodies, delivered to the Government on 29 September 2022.
