This project is about diverse people and sector experts with lived and living experiences of the mental health system, working together to shape and build upon previous work relating to the structure and role of the Peak Bodies.
This work is focused on informing Grant Opportunity Guidelines to be released at the end of 2023. These guidelines are a part of a competitive grants process and will guide how organisations are chosen and funded to operate the peaks, one representing consumers and the other representing families, carers and kin.
The specific Grant Opportunity Guidelines process will be set up and stewarded by the Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Division, within the Department of Health and Aged Care.
Two groups will be created:
a consumer group
a families, carers, and kin group.
Both groups will be building upon previous work undertaken to design the peak bodies, which includes a proposed operational model, governance structures, and underlying principles.
