Aims

The aims of the English Department are:

• to provide an effective learning environment and mechanism of good quality to nurture different talents in students; 

• to create room and opportunities for teachers to develop professionalism and cater for learner diversity, in order to facilitate students to utilize their potential;

• to increase students’ motivation in learning by means of effective approaches (e.g. interactive teaching and learning, authentic teaching contents related to students’ life, peer support culture, etc.);

• to broaden and deepen students’ learning experiences and help them develop the necessary language knowledge and skills for their future needs; and 

• to develop an assessment policy and conduct assessment to enhance learning and teaching effectiveness and promote self-directed learning.
