The ubiquitous mortice and tenon joint with Stephen Hickman

23rd June 2024

In this one day course we hope to introduce you to the ubiquitous mortice and tenon joint

During this one day course you will be introduced to the tools and techniques required to cut a mortice and tenon joint.  This course is aimed at beginners who wish to understand more about cutting joints in wood by hand  - the techniques covered are the basis for working accurately and are transferable. Mortice and tenon joints are used in so many wooden objects from tables/chairs to doors and windows. They can be cut in many different ways using hand-tools or machinery for a wide variety of applications.

You will accurately use measuring and marking tools followed by cutting the joints using hand-tools including sharp saws and chisels. This will all be under the guidance of our experienced tutor, in our well-equipped teaching barn workshop.
