Code

For the past five years, West has participated in the Hour of Code - a movement to give students of all ages the opportunity to be exposed to computer science. This year West Elementary and Southeast Elementary will be going beyond the hour, and using Code.org to provide students with a full computer science curriculum throughout the year.

Code.org is a non-profit organization sponsored by Google, Microsoft, and many other technology companies. The goal of Code.org is to provide students of all ages, genders, and backgrounds the opportunity to learn / be introduced to computer science. Code.org provides curriculum appropriate for all ages. Computer science is not just about technology, and focuses on problem solving, creativity, math, science, ELA and more! Throughout the year we will spend a portion of the students' technology time working on Code.org activities. See below for more information about Code.org, the activities, and it's impact in the classroom.

Students can access the login page through their Google Classroom or here - they should use the Continue with Google option to sign in.
