Parents, Guardians, Friends! Welcome to my page!
My name is Alec Del Viscio and I’m the lucky teacher that gets to take your child on a very special journey - their final year at the Harker school, or 5th grade :) This will be my second teaching in the Swedesboro-Woolwich School District, and I could not be more honored to have the opportunity to teach in such an amazing school district. Teaching here is very personal to me because I grew up in Swedesboro-Woolwich and attended the Clifford, Stratton & Hill schools many years ago. As a former comet, I have a strong personal connection to the district and a unique understanding of our students.
I have a lot of experience shaping young minds - this will be my 10th year working with students whether it has been as a coach, camp counselor, aide or teacher. One of my first opportunities to lead students was also right here in Swedesboro-Woolwich when I started coaching gymnastics at The Little Gym of Swedesboro in 2013. Over 6 years there, I fell in love with teaching with students and encouraging them to be their best selves. With the help of some tremendous positive feedback from the many families there, and of course the endorsement from my students, I pursued a career in education. In 2018, I began working as a Paraprofessional at South Harrison Elementary School, where I worked 1:1 with students receiving special education services and assisted in teaching all grades Pre-K - 6th. After a few months with my students, I KNEW teaching was what I was meant to do! Over the next few years, I earned my Master's Degree in Special Education, honed my teaching skills and began working at the best school in the world - The Harker School :)
When I am not running around a classroom, I am more than likely running around a gym! Health, fitness & athletics is a secondary passion of mind so you can find me in the gym almost everyday after school! I specifically enjoy weightlifting & strength training. In fact, I have actually done several competitions for the Squat, Bench Press & Deadlift. Additionally, I enjoy snowboarding/skiing, golf, hiking, mountain biking, traveling, following Philadelphia sports teams, reading, and spending time with friends and family (who still live in Swedesboro).
I have the mindset that with a positive mindset & a little hard work ANYTHING is possible! Each year, I hope to inspire my students to think positively and persevere through challenges.
I strongly believe we are a team in your child’s education so you can expect frequent emails & phone calls checking in and updating you on your child's progress in the classroom. Additionally, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns at any time! The best way to reach me is my email: adelviscio@swsdk6.com or you can reach me at (856) 241-1552 x 4417, just be advised all calls will go to voicemail during school hours.
