Hello, 4th-grade families! Welcome to my web page. I am happy to write about the week we had. Two days this week, I unfortunately came down with the flu. I want to shout out to everyone for doing a job well done. Thank you, parents, for all the work you do with your child. It truly shows in times like these. We had our first spelling test and Vocabulary test day, great job. We did a STEM lesson. The students had to predict whether the golf ball or the table tennis ball would hit the floor first. Today, they were able to observe a plant given to them by Kathy McNamara, outside in the parking lot area. Lots of great hands-on work this week in science. If you still need to fill out the education permission form in Sycamore, please do so as soon as possible. If you need help finding this form, please email angelle.kuehner@swsaints.org. She will be happy to help.

We had a great kick-off for the Marathon. Thank you for all the donations we received this week. Our class brought in enough to put us in third place for the week. We will have a Bronze Medal on our door, and our prize is Hat Day on Monday. Congratulations!!! Let's keep bringing in those donations.

We need candy donations for the Dozinky Day Parade. If you could help in this, please have your child bring it to class, and I will take it to the proper place. Thank you.

One last thing, we will be having our class pictures on Wednesday, the 10th. Your child can be out of uniform for that day.

Hello families!! I hope you all have had a wonderful week and weekend. This week has been fun as we work on the final days of our school year. I hope your child has been enjoying each day. Good afternoon and happy Friday! We had another busy week here in 3rd grade. We finished up our NWEA testing for the year. Good job, everyone. We started our final countdown for the school year. Each day, a student has an envelope to open and read what fun activity the class gets to do. We have moved our desk to our favorite spot, free choice, chalk art, and extra recess. We can't wait to see what the rest of the school year will bring. We also saw the 4th graders act out a wide range of characters in their rendition of a wax museum. They did a great job, and wonderful fun to watch. Thank you to all who gave me kind words and treats for teacher appreciation. I am extremely grateful for everything you have done for me and our students this year. Happy Mother's Day!

Hello everyone and happy Friday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter break. I was glad to hear about the fun time they had with their family and friends. We had a busy week getting back into our classroom routine. We did our last NWEA math for the year on Thursday. Give your child a high five for doing a great job. We will have our NWEA reading on Tuesday. On Thursday, May 1st is our Spring Concert. We will be out of uniform and dressing our best. Happy Friday, third-grade families!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break. I was so excited to see everyone and hear stories on what they did. We had a fast and busy week getting back into the swing of things. We had the opportunity to meet our new principal, Mr. Kuch. We are so happy to have him join our school family. We met in our family groups and made a spider web to work with our school-wide reading of Charlotte's Web. What a fun activity enjoyed by all. If you have not sent in your child's permission slip and fee for our field trip please do so by Monday, April 7th for our final head count for lunch and attendance.

Hello families! I hope you are all enjoying the start of our Spring Break. If your child filled out a March Madness bracket, it should be in your child's folder so they can watch for their winners. No spelling words were given. They will be given new words on Friday, April 4th. March book reports will be due on Monday, March 31st, our first day back from break.

Good afternoon! What a fast 4 day school week. We worked hard at our math lessons this week with elapsed time. This has been a hard concept to learn. There is a packet that went home to help practice this new lesson. The elapsed time is a standard on our report card, and I would like them to understand it the best they can.

Starry Night at The Ridges in Jordan tomorrow. I will be working a game. Come and see me and lets do some winning. I hope to see you there.
Monday 17th: Kids Heart Challenge will be starting soon. More information will follow shortly.

Hello families, and happy Friday! I hope this finds everyone in good health and excited for the long weekend. As you all know, we started Monday with March Madness. I posted our class teams. Each team worked together to come up with a name, colors, and jersey decoration. They will work together to earn points for their team. The team with the most points at the end of March Madness will earn a treat from me (the coach) haha! What a fun week.

Good afternoon and Happy Valentine's Day. What an exciting day we had. We started with a scavenger hunt this morning, a math packet with some fun activites, we even visited 4th grade and voted on our favorite Valentines box, and ended our day with a Valentine's Day party. I hope they come home with some fun stories. Watch Seesaw to view the pictures of our fun day in Red and Pink. Thank you Amber Fischer and Elizabeth Schlieser for helping make our party a success.

February 19-21st: Our class will have a substitute teacher. I will be traveling to another Catholic School to be-a-part-of an accreditation team. I am very excited for this oppertunity and hope to bring back some new ideas.
February 26th: 3rd grade Mass. If your student was picked for a reading part the reading will be your students folder to practice.
February 27th & 28th: No School: Conferences will be on the 27th. On Monday the 10th, conference sign-up opened to select a time that works for you. Happy Friday, families! I hope you're doing well. We are working hard on our studies. Our students did a big Unit 3 test in math this week, as well as finishing our class reading of Mr. Popper's Penguins. We will be watching the movie next week and doing a compare-and-contrast diagram between the book and the movie.

A few reminders for upcoming events:

February 11th: Feast Day: Wear White Polos and dress shoes.
February 14th: Our class will have a Valentine's Party. We will have a card swap, yummy treats, and a show. The time will be from 1:30-2:00. If your student wants to make a bag or box for their cards please have them bring them in decorated by Thursday, February 13th. Cards and treats can be brought in on Friday.

February 26th: 3rd grade Mass. I'll notify families when parts are assigned.

Good afternoon families!! I hope everyone is doing well during this cold snap the Lord is giving us. We have a busy week next week for Catholic Schools Week. Please refer to the flier to the right to know what your child will be doing each day.

Reminders:

1/26 Sunday Mass: If your student is helping at Mass, have them wear their school uniform. He/She will receive an out-of-uniform pass for doing so.
1/27 We will be on our trip to Skateville. If your child will need a skate mate (this helps assist skaters) it is an extra $5.
Spelling lists went out today. We will not have a test next week because we will be bowling then. We will have our spelling test on February 7th.
The Catholic Schools Week Committee is looking for parent volunteers to supervise the students in the school gym during an all school movie on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 12pm-2pm. All staff will be getting treated to a nice lunch during this time. If you would like to volunteer, please use this link to sign-up. Volunteers must be Virtus certified. Thank you!

Hello 3rd-grade families and happy Friday! I hope everyone had a wonderful week. We had a busy week getting assessments done for our report cards and finishing our last NWEA test in reading for the Winter. They did a wonderful job on everything they had to accomplish. Please be aware that I have moved my tab pages around. I hope it will make things easier to find.

There are a few reminders for the upcoming week:

Thank you all for sending all the proper outdoor clothing. I know there are some days we are inside for recess, but it is nice to have all the gear here just in case.
If you haven't sent in permission slips and fees please do so by Wednesday, January 22nd.
Monday, January 20th - NO SCHOOL
Report cards will be ready to view on Tuesday, January 21st. You will be able to view them in Sycamore. They will not be printed this year unless you request a printed copy. If you would like a printed copy, please let Joan May or myself know.
If you see NA in any part of the report card, this means that the standard was not assessed and will be done in the Spring.
We are looking for more talent show auditions. Please encourage your student to show off their talent. We will be taking more auditions this week. Hope to see your child's talent.

Good afternoon families, and happy Friday!! I hope everyone had a great week. We had a busy week getting ready for the end of the semester and getting back into the swing of schoolwork and routines.

Here are a few reminders for January:

Thank you for ensuring your child has the proper clothing for outside recess. If your child has a hood on their coat, still send a stocking hat. Mrs. Anitta is asking for all clothing for complete protection. Thank you for understanding.
Prayers for 3rd grade is on this website. Please have your child practice them. We will be doing prayer testing next week.
There are a few papers that went home this week. Both of the permission slips for CSW Skateville and bowling, as well as a reminder of your child family group color. They will wear these colored shirts on the day we go to Skateville.
One of the days during CSW, the students will be doing a talent show. If your child would like to audition for this they need to sign-up with me and I will pick the top two acts.

Good afternoon, 3rd-grade families! I hope you all had a fun and relaxing Christmas Break with family and friends. I was happy that we all came back ready to work hard.

We have our Mass on Wednesday the 8th.
Our Winter NWEA testing is starting this week. We will be working on math on Wednesday the 8th.
Report cards are starting to be filled out. I went through all 8 of the prayers the students need to know. I am attaching the list of all the prayers to the email. Please ensure they practice them, especially the Act of Contrition and Prayer to the Holy Spirit.

Good afternoon parents from 3rd grade. I hope everyone had a great week. We had another busy week of assessment testing, shopping in Santas Shop, Reconciliation, and practicing for our Christmas Concert. I have to give them all a thumbs-up for taking each day with patience to get everything done.

The gifts from Santa's Gift Shop went home today with your student. Each person's present is wrapped with their name on it. Santa askes to keep it safe under the tree until Christmas, some things are fragile.

Reminders:

Monday, Dec. 16th: PJ Day. Wear your comfy pj's to do your studies.
Our Christmas Concert is on Tuesday the 17th. This is also dress your best to look sharp for our in-school concert. We have 2 performances. Our first concert will be at 12:30 pm and the second at 6:30 pm. Please drop your student off at our classroom by 6 pm and you will need to pick them up in the classroom after the concert. Thank you, for your cooperation.
Friday, Dec. 20th will be our "Ugly Sweater/red and green day."

Good afternoon, 3rd grade families! We agreed that our week went fast. WOW!! Thank you for all who donated to the food shelf. We donated 662.2 pounds of non-perishable food and toiletries. I would like to thank those who have donated to our Thanksgiving "Trail Mix" party. It is greatly appreciated. If you did donate to our trail mix please have your student bring it on Monday. Thank you.

We will not have a spelling test next week since it is a short week. The test will be on the following Friday Dec. 6th.

During December, we have several days to have fun with our clothes. Check out the flier to the right for the special days.

We have been talking about climate in the different states of the U.S. They added another map they drew about the climate in the state they had picked. What great work they are doing on this project. Today we worked through our Unit 2 Math review. They should have the pages in their folder to study over the weekend. They will have the test on Monday.

Third grade has been working hard on times test and making good progress. Please, have your child keep practicing their multiplication facts. Hello, and welcome to the weekend. What a crazy and busy week with conferences and Halloween in the same week. I want to thank each of you for signing up for conferences. Sitting , visiting, and talking about your child was nice. During our day yesterday, being Halloween, was busy and fun. We played Halloween Bingo and a math fun packet, watched a Magic School House Halloween episode, passed out our treats to our friends, and ended our day with the Monster Bash Dance in the gym. What a great time and memories made by all. Please watch Seesaw for pictures of our fun day.

Hello, families from our third grade classroom. We had a busy week coming back from MEA break. We have finished our letters in our Cursive writing notebooks. The class has started working on their time tests. Wow, do they like taking these tests. It has been fun to see them so excited about them. We are also finishing up and cutting out our Flat Stanleys.

A few reminders of events coming up:

Tomorrow we have a couple fun events going on here at SWS. In the morning from 9am-2pm is the Hand-Made-Market. What a great place to find gifts for Christmas. Then, in the evening from 5:30pm-7:30pm we will be having a fun time with Heavens House.
Regarding our Flat Stanleys, as we finish and get them in their envelopes to mail, please remember to send in an address, if you have not already, so we can send the Flat Stanley out to your families or friends.
On Tuesday, October 29th we have our first conferences of the school year. We will see you there.
Halloween in coming up on Thursday next week. Your child can be out of uniform and wear Orange and Black for the morning. We will be doing fun Halloween activities throughout the morning. In the afternoon after lunch and recess they will be able to change into their costume to get ready for our dance party. This will start at approximently 1pm and go to around 2pm. Looking forward to a fun day.
November 1st is All Feast Day. Please have your student wearing Feast Day clothes (White Polo Shirt and Dress shoes).
Lastly, we have our 3rd grade Mass on Wednesday, November 6th. We were able to assign 5 students from our class, that expressed interest, to read a part. The rest of the class will be sitting up in front of the organ to sing the hymns.

Good afternoon families!!! I hope this newsletter is finding you all well and excited for the weekend. What a busy week we had in 3rd grade. Our school had a beautiful experience at the St. Paul Cathedral for the Pilgirmage. What a great way to celebrate God. We also started our Flat Stanley project. Wow, the fun the students had tracing their friends and decorating their own Flat Stanley to make it look like themselves. Picture of the Pilgirmage and Flat Stanley will be posted in Seesaw.

A few reminders of upcoming events:

Picture retake is on Tuesday Oct. 15th. Please let me know if you need a new form.
Next week is MEA Break. There will be no school Wednesday 16th - Friday 18th. Have a great break.
Spelling will be two weeks out, since we are off school next Friday. Next spelling test will be on Oct 25th. Thank you for helping your student study for this. I am seeing it in their scores.
Our conferences our coming up soon. We have it scheduled for Oct. 29th. More information will be available soon.
Our next Feast Day is on Nov. 1st. Please make sure to have your student in their Feast Day clothes (White polo and dress shoes).
Finally, I am excited to announce that our class Mass will be Nov. 6th. We will be combining with Mrs. English's class. Meaning, that readings and gift bearers will be shared between both classes.

Hello families and Happy Friday! We have made it through another week of school. Our class has had a lot of emotion this week. We unfortunately had to say gooe-bye to a classmate 😥. We made a will miss you card and signed it. On the same day we celebrated two birthdays with singing and treats 🥳. What a week we had.

Our Pilgirmage is on Monday, Oct. 7th. We will be leaving SWS at 8:10 am and arrive back at around 12:30 pm. Your child needs to be in Feast Day Uniforms, this includes white polo shirts and dress shoes. Also, have your child bring their Rosary. We do have extra Rosary's if someone doesn't have one.
We are excited to accounce a fun activity our 3rd graders get to start working on next week. In your child's take home folder there is a note explaining about, Flat Stanley. Please read through the letter. We will be working on making our Flat Stanley next week and we will let you know when we are ready to start sending them out to our families/friends.
Since we started 3rd grade we have been working hard at several multiplication/division facts. We will have a review on Tuesday, Oct. 8th. That review will come home for your child to study from. Please help them get ready for their test. We will have our first Unit 1 math test on Wednesday the 9th.
Lastly, out-of-uniform and retake day for pictures are on Tuesday, Oct. 15th. If you plan on your child taking pictures this day please let me know as we need to get a new form sent to you to fill out.

Good afternoon and happy Friday!! It is hard believe we are a month into school. This year is already showing me it will go fast. I would like to thank everyone for your support when I thought I was moving to first grade. I would like to say yay for staying in third grade.

There are a few reminders:

Marathon run is tomorrow morning the 28th. We will start with Feast of St. Wenceslaus Mass at 8 am. The run will begin at 9 am. Next week will be our final week for marathon donations. See you all there.
Our field trip forms for the Pilgramige are due in. The field trip is on Monday, October 7th. If you are not planning on having your child go will you please send me a quick message so I am not waiting on the permission slip. This can give us a more accurate count. Thank you.
The third grade was blessed this week to receive their own dictionary. They were donated by the Lions Club. The students were so excited to get them. I am having them keep the dictionary in their desk. They will bring them home at the end of the school year.
Family groups will be starting again. Our first family group will be on Monday, Sept. 30th. We are excited to spend that time with our new families.

Hello families and happy Wednesday. Thank you all who came to parent night last night. I was very happy to see you all. I am writing this early in the week because I will be gone the rest of the week for a wedding in Missouri. The students have been working hard all week and are excited for our field trip to Nye's Nature Center. A couple quick reminders,

NWEA in math yesterday went well. Their reading will be tomorrow at 9 am right after breakfast. Lets have another great night of sleep so we can knock this out of the water.
Dozinky Day parade is Saturday, September 21st. If you plan on partaking in the parade please be in our area of the line by 11:30am. The parade will start at noon.
Please keep those marathon donations coming. Just a couple weeks left and we will run our laps on Saturday, September 28th, at 9:00am. Note: Mass for the Feast of St. Wenceslaus will be held before the marathon. Please join us.

Good afternoon families and Happy Friday!!! We made it through our first full week of school. I have to way, what a great week. We have a few things on our calendar to put on our radar:

We have NWEA testing next week. The students will be testing in math on Tuesday and reading on Thursday. Please help your child with the testing by ensuring they get enough sleep the night before.
Parent night is Tuesday, September 17th @ 6:00pm. Please come see your child's desk and classroom and ask any questions you may have.
Our field trip will be next Friday, Sept. 20th. We will be going to the Nye Nature Center. If you have not sent in the permission slip and fee please do so by Monday. Thank you

Happy Friday to you all! What a great second week of school. We seem to be settling into our 3rd grade routine. I have a wonderful announcement. As I am sure you know we kicked off our marathon. Our students have started collecting donations. Our class collected this week's top total and won the Gold medal. With the gold our prize is to have out-of-uniform day on Monday. Way to go everyone!!!

Thank you everyone for checking and signing planners and having your child bringing back homework this week. Please keep checking both planners and folders. Our book report papers have gone home. They will be due on Monday, September 30th.

If you have not sent back forms needed for the office/nurse please do so as soon as possible.

Lastly, we have sent home the form to order pictures. Our class is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept 11th. Will you please have them in their feast day (white polo) uniform on this day as well as Tuesday the 10th. Much appreciated for the help on this.

Welcome students and families to our 3rd-grade classroom. I want to thank all of you for a great first week of school. The students have worked hard from the first bell on Wednesday to the final bell today. I have enjoyed getting to know your students and putting names on the faces I only knew last year. There are a few things I would like you to know.

Your student will come home every night with a planner and a daily folder. The planner will show some things that we do each day. Please sign and jot a note if you need to. I will check and sign as well. You will also see the spelling words each week in the planner. The maroon folder will transport any important papers or homework that needs to be done.
Next week you will see math homework, spelling, and a monthly book report. I need your child to pick a book from a genre that will be specified on the sheet. Spend time during the month reading the book, preferably a chapter book or something close to that, and have your child fill out the paper. Each month I will send home a monthly paper.
Seesaw is up and running. This is where I will post pictures. There will be an occasional assignment that I may assign. I will send out a message if that happens.
