The digital notebooks are designed with the prominent inclusion of student choice, agency, and motivation. The digital notebooks found in the sub-pages can be copied to a teacher's google drive, and then the teacher can use the template to customize additional digital notebooks for their students.

The digital notebooks also contain research based comprehension strategies for the students to practice throughout their response process. In particular, Jennifer Seravallo's reading strategies are featured in several of the digital notebooks.
