Promptness and dependability are important values in our society, and as such, it is appropriate that we stress those values in our school. As we head into the teeth of cold and flu season I want to remind everyone of the new attendance policies and regulations in place for this school year. The most important aspect of these policies revolves around the timeframe in which parent(s)/guardian(s) must communicate with the school office, or school attendance officer, in order to excuse an absence. The school must receive communication regarding absences within two school days for those absences to be excused. Communication from parents can be in the form of a written note, an email, or a phone call to the school. In the case of an absence due to a doctor’s appointment or illness, for which the student is under the care of a physician, the student must present a signed and dated note from the physician’s office to verify this absence. Parents will receive a letter from the school following the 3rd unexcused absence a student has, and will be contacted by the Dean of Students following their 5th in a 10 week span, or their 7th unexcused absence overall. Openly communicating with the school regarding your child's attendance is extremely important and helpful.
Thank you,
