As a parent, your involvement with your child’s academics is crucial to their success. Parents often want to know how they can help their child with homework and keep up with their grades. Staying involved with their grades is very important to your child’s success. Accessing the Parent Portal allows you to always know your child’s academic standing and it is recommended that you create an account for your child. This is the first step to ensuring your child is doing well with their academics. If you find that your child is struggling, there are resources available that can help improve their grades. These include tutoring at McNair as well as resources that are available online via a computer or smartphone.
This year we would like to host informational sessions for parents to help with the transition from elementary to middle school. Click here to take a short survey to help us select our topics of discussion and times that would work the best for you!
Parents can stay up to date with student grades by accessing their Parent Portal account. This service allows parents to see grade changes in real-time, get email notifications when their child receives a failing grade, and allows parents to see if any assignments are missing. If you would like to request the parent access code to your child’s account, please contact Diana Peña at 622-4480 ext. 2487, or you can request a code in person at the front office. You will need to present a valid photo I.D.
Tutoring at McNair generally happens before school between 7:00-7:30am. Teachers will provide students with a pass that they may use when they are finished with breakfast. Since there are some days when staff are required to supervise, it is best to contact each teacher individually to find out when tutoring is available.
