I was the Sales Manager at English Manufacturing. I created a lot of marketing systems and worked under the CEO in a small 5 man company. Some of the customers of English Manufacturing, had job specifications that the current product line did not neccesarily encompass.
So I talked a long time with the customer, and on my drive home, I had mental imaged pop into my head. After the 20 minute commute from Rancho Cordova, CA. I came home and made some sketches.
I went back to work in the morning, and showed in a meeting the specifications of the customer and addressed potential future sales in this, and showed the sketches.
We passed them off to Shawn Rice, and he drew up preliminary machine schematics. I had some tolerance issues when I went to the machine shop, and I had to address the default dimensions from Solidworks, redid the drawings again with lesser tolerances, and had the parts machined and shipped over.
After I took the parts back to the shop, the prototype was assembled, and that was the first prototype. Most of my personality conflicts with the shop manager, I was unable to deal with my temper. So I left the company, but they had 2 more prototypes and it ended up with this patent, that sold in a lot of buildings. It is a successful design and it works well to this day.
I rely on my visions for inspiration, and unfortunately I have a hard time working with others, and I am trying to improve.
