Each year students progress through a three year course that consists of:
Year 1: Intro to welding, SMAW Process
Intro to Blue Print Reading
Math: Basic math skill
Year 2: Welding Applications and Process, GMAW carbon steel/ aluminum & FCAW processes
How to create, interpret, understand and follow a Blue Print
Math: Reading and solving Algebraic Equation, Intro to Geometric Dimensioning,
Year 3: Advanced Manufacturing, GTAW, Pipe Welding applications, Oxy-Acetylene, CNC Plasma Cutting
Creating, Editing, Constructing Blue print , Senior Project
Math: Bends, Stretch-outs, angular measurement, Geometrical Equations, Calculus
Students learn how to safely operate a drill press, band saw, roller, and shear/ press break.
Blue print reading as it pertains to the welding industry which includes weld symbols and welding symbols.
Student will learn Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW, MIG), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW, TIG), and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW, STICK) along with Plasma Cutting, Oxy-Acetylene torch cutting, and metal manipulations to create a project based learning environment.
Student weld with Carbon Steel and Aluminum ranging thickness from 18 gauge sheet metal up to 3/8" carbon steel plate.
Students will have the opportunity to get welding Qualification starting there 2nd semester, 2nd year in the program.
