Overview
Scheduling: Available on-demand by request (Date & Location TBD).
Target Audience: Educators, paraprofessionals, and support staff seeking proactive techniques to manage classroom behaviors.
Description: This training focuses on proactive, antecedent-based interventions designed to prevent target behaviors, support Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and foster predictable, emotionally safe learning environments. Grounded in evidence-based practices (EBPs), the course covers environmental modifications, instructional delivery, the ABC model, and functional behavior responses.
Key Learning Outcomes
Identify Triggers & Functions: Recognize environmental antecedents and match staff responses to the four primary functions of behavior (Attention, Tangibles, Escape/Avoidance, Sensory).
Implement Proactive ABS: Deliver proactive strategies—including Behavioral Momentum, First-Then visual systems, choice-making, and structural room arrangements—with fidelity.
Optimize Instructional Delivery: Master clear single-step directions, appropriate 10–30 second processing times, and effective pacing to maintain classroom momentum.
Apply Evidence-Based Frameworks: Utilize validated EBP protocols (AFIRM, NCI) and objective data collection to make decisions rather than relying on routine or personal preference.
Navigate Safety Tiering & Escalation: Execute tiered safety responses appropriate to behavior severity while maintaining consistent team implementation and returning to rapport-building when needed.
