Jacob Gantz is in his 11th year of teaching, and his 2nd year as the Director of Choral Activities in Green River, where he directs 6 vocal ensembles.
Mr. Gantz earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education, with an emphasis in vocal music, from the University of Wyoming in 2010, his Level 1 Kodály Certification from CSU in 2014, and a MS in Educational Leadership in 2018. He was a founding member of the Singing Statesmen mens choir, and a co-founder of the all-male vocal a cappella ensemble The Happy Jacks. During his time at the University of Wyoming, Mr. Gantz sang with UW’s Collegiate Chorale, Men’s Choir, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and the Opera in a Gym program; singing on three concert tours throughout the state of Wyoming. Further performing credits include a tour with UW’s Collegiate Chorale throughout Italy, Austria, and Germany in 2006, a tour of Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia with the CSU Chamber Choir in 2015, and various opera roles including the role of Betto in Gianni Schicchi.
Mr. Gantz also brings with him a wide range of teaching experiences. After graduating, he became Director of Vocal Music at Lander Valley High School and Lander Middle School in Lander, Wy. In Lander, he taught six vocal ensembles, Musical Theater, and 6th Grade general music. In addition, Mr. Gantz was responsible for creating one of Wyoming’s few scheduled musical theater classes, founding the middle school show choir SoundWave, and leading a chamber choir of Lander’s finest vocalists on a ten day performance tour (the first in school history) of Ireland. After leaving Lander, Mr. Gantz spent a year as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Colorado State University under the tutelage of Dr. Bonnie Jacobi. After CSU, Gantz taught choral music at the Visual & Performing Arts Academy at Skyline High School; a position in which he also taught class voice, musical theatre, and served as Department Chair.
A native of Hulett, WY, Mr. Gantz is extremely excited to be back in his home state! He enjoys golf, literature, and spending time with his incredible wife Amanda and their four children; Addison, Lily, Jack, and Beckett.
