7th Grade Science Class:
Students have continued to do great work in Science! Our main focus this past month has been on Science Processing skills so that we can incorporate those skills in activities the rest of the school year. Students completed a series of inquiry labs that walked them through the steps of the Scientific Method. Throughout the process, they learned how to identify variables, write a hypothesis, measure, develop well written conclusions, use scientific tools and more. They took an assessment last week that wrapped up those main concepts. Make sure to take a look at the photos with all the different labs we have completed!
Spaghetti Lab
Alka Seltzer Lab - Mini Rockets
Measurement Rainbow Challenge
Penny Drop Lab
Saving Fred Challenge
As you can see, we like to do lots of labs! :)
Looking forward: This past week we officially started Chemistry! We focus on patterns on the periodic table, atomic models, chemical and physical changes and more. The students have been completing pattern challenges to see what it was like when they first discovered the periodic table of elements! These inquiry labs have been great challenges for the students. It has helped them in understanding how the patterns on the periodic table of elements work.
Reminders:
If students are absent, they can look under our weekly agenda on this site to have access to slides and what we are doing in class.
Always check Infinite campus for up to date grades!
7th/8th Grade App Development:
The past few weeks students have been working on their App Prototypes. So far, they have come up with really great ideas! Their first checkpoint was making sure they had a well developed homepage in their prototypes. They have accomplished a lot so far, but we still have much more to do to get ready for our presentations.
Presentations/App pitches will start on Thursday October 20th to determine who will go to our district wide app showcase. If your child gets chosen as a winning group, you will be notified by them! The district wide app showcase will occur at Norton Middle School on Wednesday, October 26th from 5:30-7pm. All our welcome to see what winning students have created! Look below!
7th Grade Science Class:
We have kicked off the year to a GREAT start! We were able to dive right into science while getting to know one another. I am beyond impressed with all that the students have achieved so far:
Electrical Circuits
Lab Safety with Dry Ice (Favorite Lab!)
Observations vs. Inferences with a chocolate tasting
All fun things while learning valuable lessons in science class. For the month of September, we will be continuing with Science processing skills and starting Chemistry. Make sure to stay tuned!
Reminders:
Frequently check this website to see what we are doing in class:

7th/8th Grade App Development
Students have started the year with learning the Design Process! While getting to know one another, we went through a few different design challenges to learn this design process. Students really ended up building great things!
The whole purpose of the design process is so that we can use these skills to build our upcoming apps. In the upcoming weeks, students will be learning to build and design their apps through an app called Keynote. Along the way they will also learn coding skills through a program called Swift.
Stay tuned on when students will present their apps! Winners will move on to our district-wide app showcase. Dates and further information will be provided soon.
