The Lower Sabine-Neches Soil and Water Conservation District was formed in 1954 to cover all of Orange County, administering federal conservation funds to agricultural operators for projects that promote soil and water conservation. We now work with the Natural Resource Conservation Service to promote programs for water quality, pasture improvement, water distribution, wildlife conservation and others. We also sponsor local programs with funds raised here in the district and matched by the State of Texas. The district is divided up into five zones, each represented by an elected director.
