A24: Hit by Cupid's Arrow!

Wow! How sweet are all of our friends and their families? A24 had a wonderful Valentine's Day classroom party full of yummy treats and sweet gestures.

5 below/secret santa

On December 17th, A24 students participated in a "Secret Santa" activity and holiday celebration with pizza and snacks. This was a fun "real-life" opportunity to practice gift-giving and gift-receiving etiquette skills we covered in class! We all enjoyed buying gifts for our secret person at 5 Below, wrapping them, giving the gifts, and (of course) receiving our gifts.

Museum of Science & industry

On December 10th, A24 joined a classroom from Kerkstra to visit the Museum of Science & Industry. We had a great time exploring the weather exhibits, farming machinery, fairy castle, Christmas trees from around the world, and even got to go in an airplane!

DECEMBER "Booster"

Following Directions

Students reviewed the PBIS expectation of following directions by watching an instructional lesson on Everyday Speech then competing with KAHOOT! Everyone knew SO MUCH about following directions. Great job, A24!

Tinley Park Library

On November 18th, A24 joined another CD classroom from Kerkstra and visited the Tinley Park Library! We listened to a story with sensory based activities embedded in it, got a private tour of the library and then independently explored! We love reading!

Thank you, Veterans

On Tuesday, November 12th, APMS welcomed 6 active duty soliders and 5 veterans into the school. Students were able to explore military vehicles used for the Army and Navy. A24 presented each soldier with a small gift as a thank you for their service. Students then learned about different wars through a presentation put on by Mr. Jones, APMS's Dean and a veteran himself. Thank you, Veterans!

"WHO STOLE THE SNACKS?!"

On Friday, November 8th, Officer Ward from the Chicago Police Department came into A24 to solve the "Case of the Missing Snacks" with our students. He made each student an honorary officer to help analyze fingerprints and find the culprit. The students were successful and "caught" Ms. Korbel & Mrs. Deboer ! (Aw, shucks!) We love our community helpers!

Celebrating Classroom Culture

All about : MIA!

On October 1st we celebrated Mia's Anniversary of her Adoption from Kyrgyzstan ( a country in Asia ). In Social Studies we've been learning about maps so this was a perfect tie-in to our subject matter. As a class we looked up facts about Kyrgyzstan and Mia, herself, was also able to answer some questions. Thank you Mia and her family for letting us celebrate this wonderful student and part of her life story!
