Extra Curricular

Clubs

There are thriving History Societies and a well attended Archive Club that explores the school's extensive archives. HistSoc provides students with the opportunity to share their particular Historical enthusiasms with other students, as well as giving older students the chance to share research conducted during the course of an EPQ qualification.

Trips and Visits

The department runs frequent trips and visits in the UK and overseas. An annual trip to Berlin in support of the GCSE course is offered in the May half term and, since 2012, History students have visited the USA during the October half term, specifically Washington DC and the key Civil War battlefield sites of Antietam and Gettysburg. The department plans to offer a trip to Moscow and St Petersburg in 2020.

We also explore our extensive local history. The school's heritage dates back to 1624 and provides a wonderful way to look at change over time. We also take advantage of the well preserved WW1 traning trenches in the hills above Marlow.
