Vocabulary

Expression - Any number, variable, or combination of numbers and variables. Expressions include operations but do not include an equal sign. Examples are 4 + 5, 8, 3 * a

Equations - A combination of expressions that include an equal sign. Examples are 4 + 4 = 8, 5 - 2 = 3 * 1, 7 = 7.

Factors - numbers that can be divided into another number evenly with no remainder. Examples are 1, 2, 4, 5 10, 20 and factors of 20.

Multiples - numbers that you say when you skip count by a number. Multiples go on forever because numbers go on forever. I can never have you list every multiple because you would never finish. Examples of multiples of 4 are 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, etc....

Prime Numbers - Numbers with only two factors, 1 and itself. 2 is the only even prime number. Examples of prime numbers are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19. 23, 29.

Composite Numbers - Numbers with 3 or more factors. Examples of numbers that are composite are 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30.
