Getting My Child to Read

My Child Does Not Like To Read. What Can I Do?

Many children love to read, however many don't. They find reading difficult and unpleasant. Here are some tips to help motivate children to read:

  • Find out what interests your child and take a trip to the library to check out some books based on those interests.
  • Use the computer. Many computer games and activities require reading.
  • Find reading material at the appropriate reading level. Use the five finger rule.
  • Make reading a part of your everyday activity.
  • Have not only books for your child to read, but also magazines, brochures, newsparer articles.
  • Be a good role model.
