Welcome!

Dear Parents,

It is very important that your child spend time reading every day. Research tells us that children learn how to read by practice. Reading is the primary way a child gains a wide vocabulary and is highly related to success in every academic area. Even more importantly, we want our children to catch the reading habit.

Therefore, the main homework for my class this year will be for your child to read at home. I hope you can support this goal, but if you have any questions or suggestions for a different goal, please do not hesitate to call or drop by to see me.

Enjoy the books with your children. We all like to talk about books that we are reading. Please don't forget to read to your child. Reading to children improves both their reading ability and interest. You might even want to involve the whole family! After dinner or before bed is a good time to read aloud. Most importantly, have fun!
