The first part of this class is for silent reading. The remainder of the class you can work on academics. Any work you need to complete or make-up you should plan to do during this time. You can also request to see your school counselor during this period.
Advisory is held about once a month. Each student is paired in a small group and a staff member who facilities a topic of the month. The idea is to have students build relationships with their advisory group. When possible this group of students and advisor remains constant for 3 years to help build and foster relationships.
This event is a long standing tradition. The whole school walks to the high school following a turkey. When the junior high arrives to the high school students walk around the track and watch the marching band play. When everyone returns to school part of the day's fun is revealing who has been dressed as the turkey.
