When Should I Contact My School Counselor?

Students

  • When you have a personal problem or concern

  • When you have problems with your academic classes

  • When you have a question about your schedule

  • When you are concerned about a friend

Parents

  • Anytime you have concerns about your students academic, career, or social emotional development.

How Do I See My Counselor?

Students

  • You may see your counselor before or after school.

  • Your counselor will see you that day or upon return.

  • Please keep in mind that until further notice there is only 1 student allowed at a time in the waiting room.

  • Students can make an appointment with us using the google Counselor Request Form

Parents

  • Please feel free to call or email ​ to set up an appointment or to discuss your concerns.

What does a School Counselors do and how can they help?

  • Whole class lessons (i.e. coping skills)

  • Plan student's schedules and academic advising

  • Modify or print out student's schedules

  • Teach study and organizational skills

  • Social-emotional learning and guidance for school/home difficulties

  • Provide direct services for Special Education student's with counseling and/or social-emotional goals on their IEP

  • Conduct and manage 504 meetings/plans

  • Provide brain break/space for help students to get back on track and ready to learn

  • Provide quiet space for a test or quiz

  • Help student's learn and follow the handbook and classroom expectations

  • Create attendance improvement, behavior or building plans for students

  • Work collaboratively with Administrators, Teachers & Staff

  • Communicate with families successes

  • Help families make connections to community resources

  • Award students with Star of the Month certificates, a sparkle pass and breakfast to celebrate this accomplishment

  • Promoting awareness days and kindness throughout the school

  • Keeping student's safe
