What is Articulation?
Articulation is the way of saying things more clearly. If someone said "your articulation isn't good enough. Articulate your words more clearly" means that you need to say the words more precise so it can be more understood and you're not eating your words, like you have something on your mouth while talking. Many of the children that I work with have the language skills that they need to express their wants and needs but unfortunately peers/adults can not understand them because they substitute sounds which makes it harder to understand them. Instead of saying "Bath" a child may say "Baf" or instead of saying "Dog" a child may say "Tog".
What Can I do to help my child?
By modeling correct pronunciation you can help your child see how sounds are made. Using touch cues that help your child know where to place their tongue will also assist them in knowing how to better articulate their sounds.

Working on a Specific Sound
Working on a specific sound... Create word lists you can print out and place them on index cards to practice with your child at home. Print doubles of each and you can play games like "Go Fish", "Concentration", and "Matching".
