Our school uses the Guided Reading Method with Lucy Calkins for literacy. The purpose of reading for understanding with comprehension is our key. It builds in difficulty as the student grows in skills. While this program does not have paperwork that goes home to families, I do send home a monthly newsletter. In this newsletter, I tell about our comprehension focus, our phonics focus, our spelling focus and home/school suggestions.
