First Grade Curriculum

Math: In math we are working on using math tools to solve addition and subtraction problems to 20. We are working on fact families.  We are working on number patterns to 120.  We are solving problems with tens and ones.

Reading: In reading we are exploring the world of nonfiction!

Writing: In writing we are building complete sentences.  We are working on punctuation and capitalization.  We are working on adding details to sentences and pictures.

Phonics: Our phonics curriculum is FUNdations.  In FUNdations we are working on CVC words,trick words, and digraphs!  We are working on using all our skills to sound out words! We are using glued sounds and bonus letters.  We are studying suffix s! We are working on blends, digraph blends, and r controlled vowels!

Science: In science we are studying space.  We are studying patterns in the sky!

Social Studies:We are studying biographies and learning about citzenship.

Homework: Read 15-20 minutes every night!! Practice math facts.  Practice tying our shoes.
