Community Service

Upcoming Community Service Opportunities:

1.) On Saturday, 9/14, I will be going to Stop and Shop from 9am-1pm to collect donations from shoppers to support Swampscott's Anchor Food Pantry. I will need 12 volunteers, 6 for the morning shift (9am-11am), and 6 for the afternoon shift (11am-1pm). After each shift, I will need each set of 6 volunteers to go back to the pantry to unload and stock the items that will be collected on 9/14. 2.) On Saturday, 9/21, from 9-10am we have reserved a spot to participate in SPUR's Land and Sea Cleanup. We are responsible for cleaning up Phillips Beach and Preston Beach. One group will clean up Phillips Beach and another group will clean up Preston Beach. Each group should have a minimum of 10 student volunteers. An SMS chaperone will volunteer at each site to supervise students. If you would like to participate in this effort on 9/21, please sign up here


3.) On Sunday, 9/22, from 2:30-5:00pm, I will be taking a group of 8 students to My Brother's Table in Lynn to help those in need. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up here


4.) My Brother's Table 8 Million Meals Walk (see details below). 

Date: Sunday, 10/13

Time: check-in begins at 1:30 and the walk begins at 2:00

Where: The First Church - 40 Monument Ave, Swampscott. 

MAKE SURE TO WEAR SMS BIG BLUE GEAR TO HELP US REPRESENT!

Why are WE walking? To help nourish our neighbors in need. 


How can YOU get involved?

1. JOIN OUR MY BROTHERS TABLE WALK-A-THON TEAM. To register to walk with us CLICK HERE!

E-mail me back at mmoran@swampscott.k12.ma.us and let me know that you will be walking with us on Oct. 13th. This way we can walk together! Family and friends are also welcome to join us for the walk! The more of us who get involved the better! 


2. Donate to raise $ to help those in need or ask family, friends, and neighbors to donate to our team. TYPE IN SWAMPSCOTT MIDDLE SCHOOL to make a donation on behalf of our school. Click here to donate virtually! If you make a donation, please make sure you donate towards our SWAMPSCOTT MIDDLE SCHOOL team. I have created a goal of $1000 to contribute. Who knows, maybe we can exceed it! 


"Every dollar you donate goes directly to our programs. Because the Table does not seek or accept government funds, we rely on donors like you to keep our lights on and our plates full."


$30 supports our meal delivery program to homebound ill and disabled guests.

$50 supports our offsite meal programs at the medical respite and local shelter.

$100 provides family dinners to low income families all over the city.

$250 provides dinner to-go trays for a week.

$500 sponsors a hot weekend meal.  


Walk Prizes and Incentives:

All registered walkers who raise $40+ will receive a free walk shirt the day of. If you are registered you will also  be entered into a raffle to win a $250 Amazon gift card. Special awards for schools: one trophy awarded to the school with the highest participation and a second trophy awarded to the school that has raised the most funds. Each trophy will have the name of the winning school engraved on the trophy and can be displayed at your school for the year.
