SWA Hosts Basic Life Support Training with Eka Hospital: Preparing Future Heroes
Sinarmas World Academy (SWA) proudly hosted a Basic Life Support (BLS) Training session in collaboration with Eka Hospital, empowering students, teachers, and staff with vital life-saving skills on Tuesday, 15 April 2025.
Under the theme "The Importance of Basic Life Support Training for Life Skills," the training aimed to equip participants with critical techniques such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and emergency response methods in cases of cardiac or respiratory emergencies. The event featured expert speaker Dr. Guiddo Ilyasa Purba, a practitioner at Eka Hospital BSD, who shared not only practical skills but also insights into the latest advancements in cardiac care available at MYCardia.
Practical Learning and Community Engagement
During both sessions, participants practised hands-on CPR techniques using medical mannequins brought by Eka Hospital's team. Students also learnt how to recognise cardiac arrest, activate emergency response systems, and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The training emphasised the "Chain of Survival" — a concept endorsed by the American Heart Association — highlighting the importance of rapid action in emergency situations to increase survival rates. The SWA Medics Club, led by President Jaeyi Kim (Grade 12), actively participated in the event, demonstrating a strong commitment to student leadership in health education.
Commitment to Safety and Excellence
Through this initiative, SWA reinforces its commitment to preparing students with real-world life skills, building a safer, more resilient community, and promoting a culture of care, action, and readiness. The Basic Life Support Training is part of SWA’s broader efforts to develop not only academic excellence but also essential life competencies among its students.
