SWA RoboKnights Win Gold & Start-Up Award at World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2025!
Written by Dr. Haoken
From 26 to 28 November 2025, over 500 teams from 91 countries gathered in Singapore for the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) International Final 2025, themed “The Future of Robots”.
This year’s challenge invited young innovators to design robotics and AI solutions that shape a better future – from smart cities and space exploration to technologies that improve people’s lives.
Representing Indonesia, the SWA RoboKnights – Audric, Carlos, and Kate – triumphed in the Future Innovators – Senior Category, earning Gold and the prestigious Start-Up Award.
LUMA is a groundbreaking AI-driven assistive headset that gives individuals who have lost their speech a way to “speak” again. The headset detects EEG and blink patterns, translates them into Morse code, and uses an AI autosuggester to predict words and phrases. The text is projected on a visor display and then converted into audible speech, enabling effortless day-to-day communication. Compact, affordable, and inclusive, LUMA even tracks head motion and body temperature, making it a powerful tool for independence and health monitoring. At a fraction of the cost of typical assistive technologies, it embodies the WRO 2025 sub-theme “AI Enabling Robots to Improve Lives”.
SWA RoboKnights impressed judges not only with their engineering excellence but also with their entrepreneurial vision, earning them the Start-Up Award for presenting a realistic, scalable solution that could transform accessibility worldwide.
Congratulations to Audric, Carlos, and Kate for their inspiring achievement and for showing the world how robots and the minds behind them can truly shape the future of human connection.
