EARLY YEARS
Written by Ms. Jill
The Toddler class had an exciting week exploring a variety of musical instruments! The children were thrilled to try out egg shakers, tambourines, castanets, and bells—each one offering its own special sound. With big smiles and curious hands, they tapped, shook, and jingled their instruments as they sang along to Old McDonald and Row, Row, Row Your Boat.
The class also experimented with different musical tempos. They played fast and slow, discovered the difference between loud and soft, and practised shaking and stopping right on cue. It was wonderful to see them responding to rhythm, building coordination, and enjoying the joy of making music together.
What a delightful week of sound, movement, and exploration! 🎶✨
NURSERY - Literacy
Written by Ms. Ann
Language and communication continue to flourish in our Nursery classroom as children engage in meaningful, play-based activities each day. Whether identifying letter sounds or exploring new vocabulary, our young learners develop best when they can see, touch, and experience concepts first-hand.
Each day feels like a new chapter in their learning story. Their little hands are always busy—pouring, scooping, sorting, and building—each practical life task helping to strengthen their gross and fine motor skills. With every movement, their confidence grows as they learn to describe what they are doing and how things work.
Storytime becomes a moment of magic, sparking imagination and helping them listen, recall, and share ideas. Outdoors, laughter fills the air as they play pretend, interact with friends, take turns, and use new words in the most natural way. Even the simplest experiments turn into exciting discoveries, with children observing closely, wondering aloud, and joyfully sharing what they notice.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN - Mathematics
Written by Ms. Pingkan
This term, Pre-K students have been actively engaged in playful activities to strengthen their understanding of numbers. Through songs, games, and group activities, the students explored three key concepts: identifying numbers, rote counting up to 10, and recognising the ideas of equal and not equal. They enjoyed number songs, finger plays, and counting objects found around the classroom, such as blocks, toys, and pictures. These repeated experiences helped children develop confidence and fluency in saying numbers in the correct sequence.
“Fingers play” plays an important role in supporting the student’s understanding of counting. These simple, interactive movements—often paired with songs—help make abstract number concepts more concrete and engaging for young learners. Through these finger plays, the students practised holding up the correct number of fingers, showing numbers increasing and decreasing, and following the sequence from one number to the next. As they moved their fingers, they strengthened both their counting skills and fine motor control.
Another major concept introduced this term was recognising equal and not equal. Through simple visual comparisons and interactive activities, the students learnt to examine groups of objects closely and determine whether the quantities were the same or different. They compared sets using toys and pictures, discovering that “equal” means the groups match, while “not equal” means they do not. These activities lay the groundwork for future mathematical thinking, helping students understand the meaning behind numbers—not just reciting them.

In K1, we strive to create a warm, playful, and exploration-rich environment where children learn Chinese naturally and joyfully. Through songs, stories, movement, and sensory experiences, our young learners build confidence and curiosity, making Chinese a meaningful and enjoyable part of their everyday lives.
As they learn, children continue to develop essential language skills: listening to stories and instructions, speaking simple sentences, recognising basic characters, and practising early writing strokes. Craft activities are especially engaging for our students and provide wonderful opportunities for them to speak Chinese spontaneously. For example, when children paint one hand red and the other yellow, then press them together to discover the colour orange, they often delightfully chant, “Red and yellow hold hands, turn into orange, paint an orange!” These moments show how hands-on experiences encourage children to use Chinese naturally while they explore, create, and express themselves.
🌈 Learning through play, speaking through action, and growing in Chinese with joy and confidence.
K2 - ICT
Written by Ms. Klara
Our Kindergarten 2 learners were little inventors and communicators in ICT this term! They explored exciting new ways to learn and create using technology. One of the highlights was their first experience with LEGO WeDo, a hands-on robotics kit designed for young learners. With LEGO WeDo, they built simple machines and models, including a windmill that spins when connected to the iPad. By giving commands through the app, they discovered how a motor and other basic components work together to make their model move. It was a wonderful introduction to early coding and engineering concepts!
Later in the term, the K2s also began learning an important digital skill—sending and replying to emails. They practised signing in to their own email accounts, typing simple messages, and responding politely to their teachers. As their confidence grows, they will soon take on a fun project: writing and sending an email to a parent or sibling.
It has been an exciting and productive term in ICT, and we are proud of how quickly our Kindergarten 2 students are developing their digital skills with independence and enthusiasm!
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

In Grade 1 Art, our young artists explored the vibrant and playful world of Henri Matisse, focusing on his famous “painting with scissors” technique. Students learnt how Matisse used organic shapes to express movement, rhythm, and emotion in his artwork.
To experience this technique themselves, the children drew organic shapes on colourful origami paper, carefully cut them out, and arranged them creatively on their drawing paper. This activity supported their fine motor skills, understanding of shape composition, and confidence in making artistic choices.
The students showed wonderful enthusiasm throughout the lesson and enjoyed experimenting with colour and design. More exciting art adventures await them as we move forward.
GRADE 2 - PSD

Getting Ready for The Exams
Exams are approaching and this period can sometimes feel a little pressuring for the students. Over the past 2 weeks, Grade 2 students have been learning simple but important skills to help them stay focused and prepared. They practised taking notes, creating study schedules at home, maintaining healthy habits to support their well-being, and using relaxation strategies to stay calm. These skills are not only helpful for exam readiness but are also valuable tools for learning and self-growth.
It is also important for students to understand why exams matter. Exams are not only about achieving grades. They help us understand how deeply students have learnt, the areas they might need support in, and the progress they can continue to make toward their fullest potential. When students understand the purpose behind exams, they often feel more motivated and empowered to give their best effort.
GRADE 3 - Mathematics

Our Great Navigation Adventure
This term, Grade 3 turned into brave explorers! With digital compasses in hand, they discovered north, south, east, and west—and all the points in between—just like real adventurers.
Turns and angles became their secret codes: quarter turns, half turns, and full spins guided them through imaginary forests and rivers. “Make a quarter turn right to face northeast!” soon sounded like magic words from an explorer’s map.
The thrill continued as they created their very own school maps, marking treasure-like landmarks such as the playground, library, and canteen. Then, they plotted the best route for guests to reach the school exhibit, writing clear step-by-step directions using all their new navigation skills.
Along the way, our young explorers practised teamwork, problem-solving, and map-reading—all while having an exciting, hands-on adventure!

After studying the Chinese lesson “Magical Changes”, the G4 students followed the steps described in the text to plant their own mung beans and observe their growth. Each student recorded the daily changes they saw — from the beans absorbing water and swelling, to tiny sprouts breaking through the skin and finally to small green leaves unfolding. By comparing the descriptions in the textbook with their real-life observations, students gained a deeper understanding of the lesson.
Through this hands-on activity, they also learnt to describe what they observed using clear and vivid language, which strengthened their Chinese reading and writing skills. The project not only made the lesson more engaging but also helped students develop better observation habits and greater interest in learning Chinese.

Grade 5 Students Perform the Korean Folk Song “Arirang” on Recorder for UN Day!
In celebration of UN Day, our Grade 5 students took the stage together with Grade 4 to perform the traditional Korean folk song “Arirang” on the recorder. To make the performance even more special, the Grade 5 students wore beautifully prepared hanbok, adding elegance and cultural meaning to the occasion.
After many practise sessions, the students delivered a polished and heartfelt performance, playing each note with care and confidence. Their focus and stage presence touched the audience and created a memorable moment for everyone.
Experiencing traditional Korean culture through music and sharing it with friends from diverse backgrounds made this performance especially fitting for the spirit of UN Day.
We applaud all the Grade 5 students for working together to create such a wonderful performance.
A big congratulations and well done to both our Grade 4 and Grade 5 performers!
