SWA 17th Anniversary
The Energy of Change: SWA's 17th Anniversary Celebrations
On 2 November 2024, SWA celebrated its 17th anniversary with a vibrant event that showcased the school’s commitment to growth, creativity, and community. The day was filled with exciting competitions, performances, and hands-on workshops that reflected the spirit of unity and exploration.
The SWA Cup featured thrilling competitions in basketball, volleyball, badminton, and swimming, with students demonstrating incredible teamwork. The Mind Matrix Challenge allowed students to test their skills in Mystery Trails, the Business Simulation, and the Environmental Sustainability Challenge, where innovation and critical thinking took centre stage.
A highlight of the event was the Passion Pods, offering 17 interactive workshops, including robotics, calligraphy, henna art, embroidery, mini cars, and origami. These sessions encouraged creativity and learning in a fun and engaging environment.
An Alumni Exhibit showcased the achievements of SWA graduates, highlighting diverse career paths—from law and publishing to software engineering. The exhibit also featured university choices and personal reflections, inspiring current students to think about their future opportunities. The celebration included an Appreciation Lunch for parents, followed by exciting games like Macan Unleashed and Macan Warrior, adding extra fun to the day.
Aligned with SWA’s mission to shape a brighter future, we launched the SWA Community Action: Build a Brighter Tomorrow initiative. In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, we are leading efforts to build homes in Cinamprak. This project focuses on building not just homes, but hope and unity within the community. Students have already joined, and we invite all parents and staff to contribute through volunteering, donations, or spreading awareness.
SWA’s 17th anniversary truly embodied the theme Energy of Change, inspiring students and the community to embrace new experiences and foster creativity.

Rhapsodie Indonesia Piano Competition 2024
Congratulations to Richard Chang from Grade 9 for earning the Diamond Award at the Rhapsodie Indonesia Piano Competition 2024, held on October 26 at ICE BSD. Competing in the Free Pop D2 category, Richard performed Le Festin, a lively jazz-inspired soundtrack from Ratatouille, composed by Michael Giacchino and arranged by Rémi Bezançon. This remarkable achievement reflects his skill, dedication, and deep love for music. Alongside his recent Diamond Award, he successfully passed the ABRSM Piano Grade 4 exam this semester, underscoring his commitment to advancing his musical abilities. His journey is supported by a nurturing family and a school community that values and promotes creativity and musicality in diverse ways.
Learning piano offers teenagers like Richard extensive developmental benefits, from boosting creativity and cognitive skills to enhancing balance and skills. This art form requires high levels of concentration and motor control, which nurture both mind and body for holistic growth. Participation in music competitions helps build self-confidence, perseverance, and a strong sense of accomplishment, preparing students for success in music and beyond. We’re proud of Richard and delighted to support all our students’ musical journeys, fostering a community that celebrates talent and creativity.

Health and Safety Update
It is a standard procedure in SWA to conduct a whole school general cleaning every weekend, however, we would like to update you of the extra measures that were implemented especially during sensitive periods such as flu season, and the like. Deep cleaning operations are of utmost importance at this time and we thank our cleaning services and SWA staff for the maximum effort exerted and close monitoring of all the buildings to ensure that our school is safe and clean.
Cleanliness is simply not the absence of dirt but a characteristic of the people or users. Let us do our share. Let us respect the surroundings and practise personal hygiene wherever we may be. Wearing masks is encouraged for the safety of oneself and others, and it's also essential to prioritise proper handwashing at all times.
CARE CORNER
Caring Community Campaign: CLEAN AS YOU GO (CLAYGO)
School is the 2nd home for the community members, especially our students. They learn, grow and develop their skills and personalities by spending the whole day at school, and it is important for them to have their 2nd home as their safe environment. Emphasizing caring attitudes towards each other is a way to build a place that would be comfortable for them to go through their learning journey.
“CLAYGO” or “CLEAN AS YOU GO” is a practice that is used daily to maintain a clean and organised environment whether at home, workplace, or other public places. The cleanliness of our school takes all community members involved. Children learn through consistent practice and modelling of their significant others, which is why CLAYGO should be practised and emphasized at school but most importantly at home. Having these habits will not just benefit the environment, but also help the children to learn how to care for themselves and others.
