United Nation Day Celebrations
Written by Ms. Lorely
United in Strength: Building a Brighter Future for Every Child reflects the heart of our UN Day celebration, where young children take their first steps toward understanding the world and their place in it. October 24 marked our inspiring journey, “Around the World in One Morning.” Through simple yet powerful themes, we embraced the values of love, care, inclusion, and responsible stewardship. Students, parents, and teachers filled the piazza in vibrant costumes, accessories, and joyful smiles, waving flags that proudly represented their heritage in a lively celebration of diversity. Songs and dance performances filled the air, capturing the excitement and appreciation of each unique culture, woven together in a colourful tapestry of unity.
Nurturing Connection and Heritage. Leading up to our big day, students gathered recyclables and left their unique mark on the “Global Hands Wall.” Dipping their hands in a rainbow of colours, they created a beautiful, collective canvas of handprints symbolising roots, solidarity, and belonging. Each print represented a child’s place in our big, diverse world, reminding us all that we’re connected, no matter our differences.
Inspiring Presence. Our journey across continents began with an assembly filled with pride and cultural richness, guided by parents as cultural ambassadors. Nursery took us to vibrant South Africa, Pre-K brought the colours of India, K1 shared the rhythms of Brazil, and K2 wrapped up with the charm of Italy. The adventure continued with a Global Food Tasting, where students delighted in treats and flavours from around the world. Classrooms buzzed with excitement as children explored stories, games, and unique traditions, deepening their connection to the beauty of diverse cultures facilitated by our dynamic parent volunteers.
Together, We Are Stronger. To cap off the morning, each class worked alongside parents to create a Unity Banner using collected recyclables. These banners became beautiful symbols of togetherness and love for our Earth. Every banner told a story of oneness, creativity, and joy, showing how we can create something truly impactful when we come together. As the banners lined our hallways, they reminded us that our shared efforts, no matter how small, can help build a more caring and harmonious world.
Yearning for Peace and Harmony. Our celebration left the children with new knowledge, stronger relationships, and a lasting sense of belonging to our big, beautiful global family. They walked away as not only dreamers but as builders of tomorrow, inspired by the power of their unique strengths to bring hope and harmony to the world. With hearts full of unity and purpose, they’re already shaping a brighter future—showing us that together, there’s nothing we can’t achieve.
Toddler Understanding The World
Written by Ms. Mary Ann
This term, the Toddler students have embarked on an exciting journey in Understanding the World with the theme "Music and Me." Through stories, music, and imaginative play, they explored creative ways to learn and engage with one another.
One of the stories the children enjoyed was "The Five Little Monkeys." After listening, they had fun pretending to be doctors, using stethoscopes to check on each monkey that “fell off the bed.” Following this, they used their pointer fingers to paint their own little monkeys, expressing creativity and practising fine motor skills, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
The class also listened to "The Three Little Pigs," where they eagerly participated in building the houses for each of the three pigs. Working together to assemble these houses brought plenty of laughter and joy, fostering teamwork and problem-solving in a hands-on, interactive way. Each activity allowed the toddlers to blend storytelling, music, and imaginative play, making for a memorable and enriching experience.
Nursery Bahasa Indonesia
Written by Ms. Pingkan
In Indonesian class, the Nursery students learned new movements of the Hokey Pokey song. They repeated some vocabulary from term 1 about body parts while moving their bodies, like ‘tangan’, ‘kaki’,’lutut’, and then sitting nicely at the end.
At the beginning of term 2, the class began talking about healthy food. The target was to teach the students why eating healthy is important. The lesson started with a fun song and games called "Makan Apa Sekarang?" Then by using educational videos, some students could guess, and say healthy foods that are shown such as “nasi putih”, “sayur bayam”, “ikan goreng”, “buah apel”, and “susu”. As the lesson continued, more food was shown, and the students surprisingly recognized the dishes and even named their favourites like “pasta”, “brokoli”, “wortel”, “salad”, ”pisang”, and “buah naga”. Some of them brought and ate their favourite healthy fruit during snack time.
In the second week, the Indonesian class moved on to the topic of unhealthy food. The lesson was taught by showing an educational short story about snacks falling on the floor, unwashed fruits, not washing hands before eating, as well as sweet treats like candy and cookies, which can cause stomach aches and toothaches. The target of this lesson was to teach students about healthy and unhealthy food, and to help children understand which foods are good for their bodies and which foods they should eat less often or avoid. Then the lesson ended with a creative activity where the students made art by pasting pictures of healthy and unhealthy foods onto colourful paper.
PreK Literacy
Written by Ms. Joy
The Pre-K class had an engaging and enriching week learning the sounds of /c/ and /k/! Singing along to the Jolly Phonics song, the students clicked castanets and dove into a treasure trove of words like “castle," "car," "corn," "cake," and "carrot." They also explored /k/ words such as "key," "kangaroo," "koala," "kettle," "kite," and "kiwi."
For this hands-on learning week, the class immersed themselves in corn seeds and playdough exploration. The little ones had the opportunity to play and engage in activities that stimulated both their minds and bodies. To further enhance their English language focus, the class read the book Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too? by Eric Carle and pretended to be hopping kangaroos, happily pretending to carry their own pouch. Finally, the students unleashed their creativity by colouring their own cats and decorating them with soft cotton.
This week's lessons targeted various areas of development, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience for the Pre-K students.
K1 Music
Written by Ms. Melissa
In the K1 music lesson, students are enthusiastically engaging with "Syncopated Clock," using castanets and ring bells to explore both rhythm and musical form. This interactive activity not only introduces them to the structure of music but also develops their coordination as they synchronise their movements with the song. An essential part of the lesson is learning to wait for their turn, fostering patience and sharpening their listening skills. By combining fun, movement, and timing, this activity nurtures their sense of rhythm and teamwork while keeping them focused and engaged. It offers an enjoyable way for young learners to develop key musical and social skills in a group setting.
K2 Mathematic
Written by Ms. Klara
At the beginning of this term, the Kindergarten 2 students learned all about shapes and solids! They engaged in creative activities that helped bring these concepts to life.
Exploring 2D Shapes through Robot Art
To start, students learned to identify and describe basic 2D shapes, including circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles. They were then given a fun challenge: drawing their own robots using these 2D shapes! Each student’s robot was uniquely designed, combining different shapes to make arms, legs, and faces. To make things even more exciting, the class used an animated drawing tool to see their robots come to life on screen, bringing lots of smiles and adding a touch of animation to their maths experience!
Building with 3D Shapes
After mastering 2D shapes, the students moved on to explore 3D shapes, such as cubes, spheres, cylinders, and cones. They discovered how 3D shapes differ from 2D shapes and learned their unique properties. The highlight was building structures with these shapes! Using blocks and other materials, students crafted towers, bridges, and various imaginative creations. This hands-on activity helped them understand how shapes work together to create more complex structures, and they loved experimenting with the possibilities.
Our Kindergarten 2 students enjoyed learning about shapes in a whole new way, using art, technology, and hands-on activities.

United Nation Day Celebrations
Written by Ms. Ayu and Ms. Farah
This year, our elementary school celebrated UN Day with the inspiring theme, "Cultivating a Culture of Peace." The event was a beautiful reminder of how much we can learn from one another, and it was a true success, bringing together students, teachers, and families to celebrate the diverse cultures of our world.
The festivities began with incredible performances by students representing the cultures of the USA, Brazil, India, Canada, and Bulgaria. Each performance was a celebration of the unique traditions, music, and dance of these countries, and it was clear that students put tremendous effort into their presentations. The lively music and colourful costumes transported the audience to distant lands, inspiring curiosity and appreciation for each country's culture.
After the performances, we embarked on an exciting “world tour in a day,” visiting booths from Korea, Taiwan, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Russia. Each booth offered an interactive look into the country’s culture, with traditional games, displays of traditional clothing, and even delicious treats that made us feel like world travellers. As we explored each booth, students gained new insights into the customs, languages, and heritage of these diverse nations, experiencing firsthand the beauty of our global community.
Not only did the booths provide a wealth of cultural knowledge, but the food also made the day extra special. From Korean snacks to Russian treats, every booth offered unique flavours, allowing us to taste the world as we explored it. It was a day full of learning, laughter, and discovery, and it reminded us all of the importance of unity and understanding in creating a peaceful world.
In celebrating UN Day, we truly lived out the values of respect and kindness, showing how a culture of peace begins with a willingness to learn from one another. The event was a meaningful way for everyone to appreciate the richness of the world around us and to foster a spirit of harmony that we can carry with us every day.
Grade 1 ICT
Written by Mr. Reza
In ICT for Term 2, Grade 1 students are learning basic coding concepts through stories and games. Scratch provides a fun and accessible way to introduce coding basics, empowering students to be creative and think logically. We start by demonstrating how characters can move or make sounds. Simple projects, like moving a character across the screen or adding a sound effect when tapped, are enjoyable and easy ways for students to begin learning.
Coding with Scratch gives Grade 1 students an early start in a skill that will become increasingly valuable in the future. By learning through play, these young coders build critical skills and develop an interest in technology. As they create and explore, they learn they can be creators, not just consumers, of digital content. With Scratch, we’re empowering a generation of kids to think critically, solve problems, and have fun with code!

Grade 2 Arts
Written by Ms. Adelina
In our Grade 2 art class, students have been exploring mixed media collage inspired by Vincent van Gogh's iconic painting, *Starry Night*. Throughout this project, they developed a variety of art skills and fine motor abilities. To begin, students created vibrant, patterned papers using a printmaking technique, experimenting with textures and colors. This process strengthened their hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. They then applied cutting skills to form imaginative cityscape silhouettes, carefully adding colorful windows to their buildings. For the background, students used acrylic paints, practicing dash-like brushstrokes to mimic the swirling night sky in Starry Night. This combination of techniques not only fostered creativity and artistic expression but also honed their fine motor skills, such as precise cutting, gripping, and controlled brush movements.
Grade 3 PSD - Daily Check-in
Written by Ms. Lecya
Through our Personal and Social Development (PSD) program, our goal is to equip students with practical tools and strategies for managing their emotions effectively. This week, we focused on building self-awareness and emotional literacy through daily journaling. Each day, students recorded their emotions, noting the feelings they experienced and the situations or events that triggered those emotions. At the end of the week, we took time for reflection, allowing students to look back on their emotional journey and identify patterns or recurring triggers.
To deepen their understanding, we also introduced mind mapping as a way for students to visually organize and explore their emotions. By creating a mind map, they were able to see how different feelings are connected and how certain triggers might influence their emotional state. This exercise aimed to make the process of recognizing and managing emotions more accessible and engaging.
Grade 4 Maths
Written by Ms. Lance
In our Grade 4 Math class, students dove into the concept of angles through an Angle scavenger hunt around the school. Students searched for acute, right, obtuse, and reflex angles in various objects. They discovered angles in everything from classroom furniture to tree branches, making real-world connections to what they learned in class. This interactive experience not only made learning fun but also helped students recognize angles in their everyday environment.
After the scavenger hunt, we moved on to paper folding and cutting activities to explore the concepts of angles on a straight line and how to classify triangles. Each student received pieces of paper and learned how to create different angles by folding and cutting. This hands-on approach allowed them to visualize angles and triangles and understand their properties better. As they worked, students discussed their findings and helped each other, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Overall, these activities provided a rich learning experience that combined exploration, creativity, and teamwork. Grade 4 students not only gained a deeper understanding of angles but also enjoyed the process of discovering math in action!
Grade 5 Chinese
Written by Mr. Andy
In the past few weeks, grade 5 students have been reviewing and reinforcing the knowledge they previously learned by performing conversation in class. They presented the material in an engaging way through role-play, where each group designed conversations based on everyday scenarios. This method not only helped students review vocabulary and sentence structures but also improved their speaking skills and sense of teamwork.
During the performances, students took on different roles and applied their previous knowledge through interactive dialogues. They also incorporated new expressions based on the context of the scene. Every student actively participated, and the classroom atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. This approach to review deepened students’ understanding of the material and boosted their confidence in using the language in real-life situations.
