DP Update
Written by Ms. Marta
As we enter the fourth week of the academic year, I would like to take a moment to address some important deadlines and reminders for both Grade 11 and Grade 12 students.
For our Grade 12 students, we have already reached some significant milestones. The Theory of Knowledge Exhibition is now completed, and our focus has shifted to upcoming deadlines. The first full drafts of the Extended Essay and the Language and Literature HL essay are due soon. We encourage all students to stay on track with their work, as meeting these deadlines is crucial for success in the Diploma Programme.
In this busy period, we would like to remind everyone of the importance of well-being and effective time management. Balancing academic commitments with personal care is essential. We've also noticed a trend of students choosing to be absent on single days, which we strongly discourage. This approach can jeopardise the learning process and make it difficult to keep up with the rigorous demands of the IBDP.
For our Grade 11 students, the first assessments are just around the corner. This is an important time to stay focused, avoid procrastination, and ensure that all work is completed on time. Establishing good habits now will set the foundation for success in the coming months.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to a successful academic year. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.

Media Studies in the English Department
In the English Department at Sinarmas World Academy, middle and high school students have been engaged in dynamic media units that have sharpened their critical thinking skills. These lessons, focused on advertising analysis and evaluation, have encouraged students to explore the power of media in shaping opinions and consumer behaviour. By dissecting various advertising techniques, such as appeals to ethos, pathos, and logos, students are learning to recognize persuasive strategies and evaluate them for effectiveness.
This hands-on approach has sparked lively discussions, where students have shared insightful analyses and thoughtful evaluations of real-world ads. It’s been a stimulating and rewarding journey as they become more media literate and aware of the messages they encounter daily. All in all, the English Department continues to foster curiosity, analysis, and a deeper understanding of the media's role in modern society.

Exploring Economic Thought Through the Ages: A Journey for Grade 11 Students
Grade 11 Economics students have embarked on an exciting exploration of how economic ideas have evolved from the eighteenth century to the present day. This section of the IB Economics syllabus dives into the various schools of thought that have significantly shaped our global economy and everyday lives.
Understanding economics as a social science means recognising that the assumptions guiding its study have shifted dramatically over time. By examining the historical origins of economic theories and principles, students gain insight into how economists view the world and how these perspectives have influenced the policies of nations around the globe.
This journey through the history of economic ideas not only enriches students' knowledge but also highlights the importance of these ideas in shaping the diverse economic policies we see today. Through this topic, students are developing a deeper understanding of how economic theories have guided the evolution of societies and continue to play a crucial role in our modern world.
Music

This week, we are proud to highlight the efforts of our Grade 9 students, who have been working on original compositions for the Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest. Bow Seat is a global organisation that empowers teenagers to use their creativity in art, including music, to advocate for ocean conservation and raise awareness about climate change.
Every year, our MYP Music students consistently participate in this program, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship and their passion for positive, impactful activities. This year’s contest theme, "Climate Hope: Transforming Crisis," encourages young people to reflect on the climate crisis and envision a sustainable future. Our students have embraced this challenge, creating original songs that convey powerful messages about the importance of protecting our oceans.
Through their compositions, our students have shown incredible growth in their musical skills, creativity, and critical thinking. They have collaborated effectively, learning the value of teamwork and collective effort in achieving their goal. Their participation in this contest not only serves as a form of artistic expression but also as a meaningful contribution to the global movement for ocean awareness.
We are extremely proud of our students for their dedication and hard work. Their music is a testament to their care for the environment and their desire to make a difference. We hope their efforts inspire others within our community and beyond to take action for our oceans and planet.

Students who applied early to universities have started receiving their acceptance letters. We wish to congratulate all of our students on their acceptances so far and wish them all the best as they continue to apply to other universities throughout the semester. Regular Decision acceptances should be received by April and acceptances to some universities in other countries may be received as late as July. This acceptance list will be updated as they come in.
