Written by Dr. Haoken
Sinarmas World Academy (SWA) proudly announces the exceptional performance of our Grade 10 students in the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Personal Project for the May 2025 session. With a school average of 5.88, our students far exceeded the world average of 3.94, underscoring SWA’s strong foundation in fostering inquiry-based, student-centred learning.

Out of 25 students:
7 students (28%) achieved the highest possible grade of 7
72% of students achieved top-tier scores of 6 or 7, a powerful indicator of the depth, quality, and personal engagement evident in their projects.
This year’s projects showcased a wide range of topics, from sustainability and social justice to innovation and creative expression:
Engineering-focused designs featured solar and wind-powered cooling systems and water purification prototypes aimed at supporting local communities.
Creative expressions included children's books on emotional resilience, inclusive board games for neurodiverse learners, and handcrafted artistic products inspired by cultural heritage.
Technological projects ranged from AI-based learning tools for accessibility to architectural models of sustainable homes.
Each project was a reflection of the student’s passions and values, aligning with the IB Learner Profile and preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the Diploma Programme. The process encouraged goal setting, critical thinking, inquiry, and reflection—key skills that continue to support their academic journey.
At SWA, we believe the Personal Project serves as a launching pad into the IB Diploma Programme and beyond. The results from the May 2025 session affirm our continued dedication to personalised learning, global-mindedness, and innovative thinking.
Congratulations to all our current Grade 11 students and PP supervisors for an outstanding achievement!
Honoring SWA’s Young Musicians and Their Summer Achievements
This summer, three SWA students exemplified the artistry, discipline, and commitment that mark the path of a true musician.
Suzuki Music Camp 2025, Karawaci, Tangerang – 18 June 2025
As a young and dedicated violinist, Darrell immersed himself in the Suzuki Music Camp held by Suzuki Music Indonesia. There, he refined his technical command, developed deeper ensemble sensitivity, and experienced the collective joy of orchestral music-making. His successful concert on the camp’s final day was both a personal triumph and a reflection of rigorous preparation.
Indonesia Annual Concert 2025, Jakarta – 13 July 2025
Richard delivered an accomplished solo piano performance at the Indonesia Annual Concert in the Auditorium Perpustakaan Nasional RI, displaying interpretive depth, technical finesse, and the poise of a maturing artist.
Allegro Music Annual Concert 2025, Alam Sutera, Tangerang – 17 May 2025
Sean's solo piano appearance at the Allegro Music Annual Concert was marked by clarity of tone, controlled phrasing, and a confident stage presence that revealed discipline and personal expression.
When young musicians participate in events such as music camps and formal concerts, they cultivate discipline through sustained practice, build self-confidence by meeting the challenges of public performance, and deepen musicianship through exposure to varied repertoire and collaborative settings. These experiences strengthen cognitive abilities such as memory and focus, enrich social networks with peers and mentors, and nurture qualities (patience, resilience, and empathy) that serve them far beyond music, shaping character, life skills, and an enduring optimism toward future goals.
SWA recognises that musical study is not merely the acquisition of skill but the shaping of the self. Darrel, Richard, and Sean have demonstrated that learning music within and beyond school walls can be transformative, both artistically and personally. May their dedication inspire us all to approach our own pursuits with equal passion, discipline, and joy.
