Rhapsodie Indonesia Piano Competition 2023
1st Prize Winner and 1st Commendation
Congratulations to Shao Jie (Grade 5) for winning the 1st Prize Winner Award (category Kinder C3) and Richard (Grade 8) for winning the 1st Commendation Award (category Elementary C2) in the RHAPSODIE INDONESIA PIANO COMPETITION 2023, which was held at the ICE BSD from 28 - 29 October 2023. This is the biggest piano competition of the year in Jabodetabek, Indonesia. With this achievement, both of them get a special opportunity to continue their journey to the 11th Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival 2023. They also qualified for the Youth Educational Friendship Festival in Vietnam and Hong Kong in January 2024.ย

SWA Kampoeng of Terror

Spooky season has arrived, and the time for wearing funny costumes and scaring people is finally here! Every 31st of October, SWA celebrates Halloween Day, where students can get creative by wearing funny, enchanting, heroic, or even spooky costumes to school. And let's not forget the special SWA haunted house designed to test students' courage. This year, the SWA Haunted House is extra special, featuring a Laser Room integrated into the haunted house, along with the chilling Comiclub Horror House. Combined, it was SWA Kampoeng of Terror!
SWA 16th Anniversary

Time flies, and on 3 November 2023, SWA celebrated its 16th birthday. This milestone represents SWA's journey from its early years to a more mature phase. It's a time when the SWA community has been embracing SWA's culture and values, and strengthening SWA's position as a top-notch educational institution.ย
To celebrate the anniversary, the SWA community gathered in the Arts lobby, uniting as one family. Led by the amazing duo of Ms. Jill and Mr. Daniel, everyone sang "Happy Birthday" and continued with cutting the tumpeng, a traditional Indonesian yellow rice dish. During this moment, they announced the winner of the SWA song arrangement, "The Journey." Congratulations to Andrew G10 for creating such a beautiful arrangement!ย
The SWA 16th Anniversary was celebrated with the entire SWA community and other schools in Jakarta and Tangerang. The event was a comprehensive package, including various activities. The SWA Cup, featuring basketball 3x3, swimming, badminton, volleyball, and esports competitions, kicked off on 30 October. The Mind Matrix Challenge took place on 4 November, allowing students to showcase their creativity and knowledge in Storytelling, Amazing Math Race, and Science Challenge. Last but not least, there was a food bazaar with stalls offering a variety of food and beverages from different cuisines.
SWA Cup
The SWA Cup began on 30 October, and the final round took place on 4 November 2023, with teams from various schools in the Tangerang and Jakarta areas. The gym resonated with cheers from supporters as all the teams competed to score and claim the championship of the SWA Cup. They competed in various sports, including basketball 3x3, volleyball, badminton, and swimming. All the teams and participants performed exceptionally well, demonstrating sportsmanship and teamwork. All their hard work and sweat were well worth it. Congratulations to all the winners!

Mind Matrix Challenge
Another competition that took place during SWA's 16th Anniversary was Mind Matrix, which challenged the creativity and strategy of each participant in various categories, such as Storytelling, Science Challenge, and Amazing Math Race. Every participant had the opportunity to showcase their creativity, knowledge, and talents.ย
In the Science Challenge, participants were assigned two challenges: creating a mangonel catapult provided with a set of pencils and rubber bands to construct their catapults and constructing a basketball tower using only newspaper and masking tape. The Amazing Race also challenged participants to solve clues scattered on various premises. Congratulations to the teams and participants โ you are amazing!ย

Parents submit Re-enrolment Advice through our Fiori Parent Portal (https://portal.swa-jkt.com) at the latest on 10 November 2023, and return the signed hardcopy to one of the offices below:

SWA Literacy Programme
Your partner in building a strong foundation in English literacy skills is here. Join the SWA Literacy Programme! The SWA Literacy Programme features JOLLY PHONICS for ages 3-6. It is a comprehensive programme that employs a child-centred and multisensory approach to teaching the 42 sounds of the alphabet, which motivates children to build words as early as possible.
The programme is also offered to Elementary School students aged 7-11 years old. In this programme, literacy skills, (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), are further developed through exposure to stories of various genres. The language exercises are combined with activities that focus on comprehension skills (eg. summarising, inferencing, comparing and contrasting) that they can apply to all reading situations.
