Toddler Maths
Written by Ms. Ann
This term, the toddlers learnt counting and numbers in their math lessons. To instill the fundamental concept of counting, real items were provided for them to count independently. Guided by their tiny pointer fingers, they grasped the notion of one-to-one correspondence with great curiosity and enthusiasm. The class was also presented with prepackaged fruits and vegetables, and they eagerly opened their packages. As they uncovered the contents, they engaged in a delightful exercise of counting the items they each received. Their joyful voices echoed throughout the classroom as they counted, "one, two, three, four, five…" with each item.
We also introduced them to the story of "The Three Little Pigs", a beloved tale that captured the children's hearts. They particularly enjoyed the part where they built the pigs’ houses. Their eyes remained fixed on the book, and as the sound of the wolf approached, they were vigilant in identifying its source. The children diligently counted the number of pigs and houses in the story, chorusing, "one, two, three," in unison as the narrative unfolded. This interactive storytelling experience fostered a lively atmosphere in the classroom, with the children actively participating in the counting process.
Nursery PE
Written by Ms. Sherly
In PE, one of the primary goals for Nursery children is to instill confidence and safety in their movements. These young learners are on their journey to develop their upper and lower body muscles and learn the proper mechanics of basic movements such as crawling, running, and jumping. In PE, it is not only about the exercises; it is about building a love for movements, fostering friendships, and setting the stage for a lifelong physical fitness journey.
We are delighted to witness the children’s remarkable improvements day by day!
PreK Music
Written by Ms. Melissa
Music learning in Pre-K is not only a fun and engaging activity but also a valuable tool for building confidence and fostering a love for music in young children. By incorporating singing and playing percussion instruments such as egg shaker, castanet, and ringbells; it creates a dynamic and enjoyable learning experience that sets the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of music. We are so happy to see the Pre-K students started to explore their singing abilities by singing simple two-phrase songs, such as “Rain-Rain Go Away”, “Good Night Sleep Tight”, “Snail-Snail”, “See Saw”, “Bye Lo”, and “Cuckoo”. Besides using their singing voice to sing, they also listen to some nursery rhymes while keeping the beat using body percussion and instruments.

SHAPES GALORE
K 1… a magical time of discovery
Imagine the things we learn every day
In a world where there’s a lot to explore
This time we call it SHAPES GALORE!
In Maths, we explore, learn, and play
Shapes all around, shapes every way
Circles, triangles, squares to name three
These shapes the K1 students learned as 2D
Hold up, friends… more shapes to come!
The words corners and sides we hum
Such as rectangle, star, heart or octagon
These flat shapes can’t stand on their own!
Shapes surround us , yes we sure know!
All of them will continue to exist as we grow
From papers, leaves, and things on the wall
To our bags, books, and things that fall
3D shapes… What are they?
Any shape with length, and height and width
they could be physically held
And some attributes that are retained in our head.
We know cubes, spheres, and cones
Like boxes and balls found in our homes
Pyramids, prisms, and cylinder
That we were learning together

Draw My Feelings Out
Emotional regulation is a critical self-management skill for students, with far-reaching benefits for academic success and personal growth. Through Personal and Social Development (PSD), we attempted to equip students with tools and strategies to regulate their emotions. Last week, we were trying to “Draw my feelings out”. Drawing, as a form of artistic expression, has emerged as a powerful and accessible means of regulating emotions. Students were asked to take a moment and close their eyes, feeling different emotions, such as happiness, anger, worries, and sadness. Then, they were asked to draw any object, colour, scribble, or any other images that appeared in their imagination. Hopefully, the act of creating art allows students to release emotions healthily and constructively.
Grade 4 Field Trip

The G4 students embarked on a memorable field trip to SeaWorld Ancol, where they encountered the captivating world of marine life. The day began with the students assembling and bubbling with excitement. The prospect of a day out of the classroom shared with friends, was enough to light up their faces. The journey to SeaWorld Ancol was made even more special by the fun-filled bus ride. The bus was a beehive of activity, with G4s chatting, playing games, and enjoying snacks. The bus ride set the perfect tone for the adventure that lay ahead.
Arriving at SeaWorld Ancol, the G4s were greeted by the park's vibrant ambience. Their excitement was contagious as they entered a world where the marvels of the sea awaited them. What made the day even more memorable was the chance to explore these wonders with friends outside of the school environment. As the students ventured through the park's exhibits and attractions, they shared in the awe and wonder of each discovery. Whether it was watching sharks swimming in the aquarium, observing jellyfishes glow in the dark, or marvelling at the intricate fossilized seashells, the presence of friends added a layer of enjoyment to the day. The shared experiences and the joy of learning together deepened the bonds of friendship.
One of the most thrilling moments of the day was the diver's feeding show. As the students gathered around a massive aquarium, they witnessed skilled divers descending into the depths of the ocean exhibit. With bated breath, they observed as these underwater explorers hand-fed the fish and other marine creatures. The divers moved gracefully, ensuring that every fish received its meal. The students marvelled at the intricate choreography and the precision of the feeding process. This unique and educational display allowed the young minds to witness the relationship between divers and marine life while learning about the importance of maintaining the well-being of these creatures.
The G4's field trip to SeaWorld was a day of wonder, discovery, and learning. The day showed that education can be exciting and that friendships can be deepened outside the classroom. The memories created on this remarkable day will serve as a testament to the power of shared experiences and the joy of learning in the company of friends.
Grade 5 Field Trip
Written by Mr. Marc
The Grade 5 students went on a field trip to the Museum of Anatomy FKIK Unika Atma Jaya. Students entered the Klara Assisi Building on the morning of 17 October to start their learning adventure.
The knowledgeable staff of the museum led the children around to the different exhibits, explained each exhibit in detail, and answered questions from the class. For example, students saw a preserved fetus and a heart.
“We looked at real organs!” said Lucas (Jojo). “We also took a fun quiz where we had to guess which organ goes where in the body.” “Some of it was gross,” said Daphne. “We learned about circulation, too,” said Joannes referring to the human-length interactive computer screen that showed the body, the organs, and the movement of blood through the body.
This field trip was great, dynamic training for the students as they prepare for the Checkpoint Science test this school year.
Overall, it was an engaging and successful field trip enjoyed by all.
