Our Nursery class has been focusing on the theme of "Building Healthy Habits" this term. Our young learners have gained insight into various ways to promote overall well-being. They have actively engaged in activities that have reinforced these concepts, such as handwashing practices and exploring the world of healthy foods through stories. During these activities, the children used fruit and vegetable toys to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy food items. Additionally, they enjoyed the joy of dancing and exercising to their favourite songs, recognising that physical activity is a vital component of maintaining a healthy body. The incorporation of the "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" song, which involved a pretend sleep routine, highlighted the importance of adequate rest in supporting good health.
These engaging and educational activities have not only been enjoyable for our little ones but have also enabled them to comprehend some fundamental principles for maintaining a healthy body.

Physical activity plays a crucial role in the development of young children, and our Pre-K students are no exception. In the first term, we focus on laying the foundation for a lifetime of physical health and well-being. One of the primary goals is to develop the gross motor skills of our young learners. These skills, including walking, running, jumping, and landing properly, are fundamental building blocks for a child's physical development.
Through a variety of engaging activities, we help our Pre-K students become more confident and coordinated in these essential movements. Our Pre-K students also learned how to stretch their bodies safely and effectively, setting the stage for a lifetime of healthy movement. It is heartwarming to witness the joy of our Pre-K students exploring their physical movement capabilities with laughter and fun.

Written by Ms. Diane
The Kindergarten 1 class has had an enjoyable time at school as they are involved in exciting and engaging lessons! They have been participating in colouring, drawing, crafting, running, dancing, and jumping while learning different letter sounds each week. Additionally, they have had the opportunity to listen to several well-loved children’s stories such as The Carrot Seed, Kite Day, The Extraordinary Egg, The Very Busy Spider, and a lot more! These activities not only make learning a fun experience but also aid the kids in building stronger literacy skills, all while helping them sharpen their gross and fine motor skills.
It is thrilling to see budding readers and speakers amongst the Kindergarten 1 learners. They have become more familiar with the sounds associated with each letter, have been learning how to form the letters well, and some are even starting to blend sounds and read, which is a significant milestone in their literacy journey … YAY indeed!
K2 Music
Written by Ms. Melissa
In Kindergarten 2, students embark on a musical journey that introduces them to rhythm, percussion instruments, and ensemble playing. They are not only exposed to the joy of music but also develop essential musical skills. They start to learn to play in ensemble settings using xylophone. They are divided into three different groups, each with a unique role in playing "Hot Cross Bun." This ensemble approach allows students to experience the collaborative nature of music-making, where each individual contributes to the overall harmony. Within their respective groups, students take on various roles. Some play an ostinato, a repetitive musical pattern that adds depth and texture to the piece. Others are responsible for playing the melody itself, bringing the tune to life. Additionally, students explore the crucial role of maintaining the beat using castanet, ensuring that the music flows seamlessly. This holistic music education experience in Kindergarten 2 not only fosters an appreciation for music but also nurtures skills in rhythm, melody, collaboration, and creativity.

The students have understood the importance of having assertive communication. They could also identify the advantages and disadvantages of having passive and aggressive communication. Grade 5 Maths

In an age where education transcends the boundaries of textbooks and classrooms, students at SWA have found a unique way to hone their maths skills while making a positive impact on the world. FreeRice, a platform developed by the United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP), has become an integral part of their class routine. FreeRice offers a wide range of educational activities, with a primary focus on subjects like maths, science, language arts, and more. The platform allows them to answer maths questions, with each correct response resulting in a donation of rice grain to people in need through the UNWFP. This dual benefit has made it a popular choice among students and teachers alike.
In another corner of the G5 classroom, a Fraction Art showcasing SWA’s Baby Mighty Macan was designed to celebrate the best characteristics of our school’s mascot. This has allowed our G5 students to connect creativity to maths. Maurice, Hae Yun and Reagan’s work gained the most number of likes.
Fraction concepts that were once considered complex are now made more accessible through interactive simulations, animations, and collaborative activities.
In an era where traditional education meets the digital age, SWA continues to empower students with innovative tools and projects that promote learning, global awareness, and personal growth. Through initiatives like FreeRice, the SWA Baby Mighty Macan poster and the use of interactive whiteboard lessons, students are not only gaining knowledge but also developing important life skills, empathy, and a sense of responsibility toward their community and the world.
