As we embark on the new academic year, it is with great excitement that we welcome both new and returning faces to our Early Years Elementary School department.
The start of a school year is a time of new beginnings, opportunities, and growth. We extend a warm welcome to our new students and equally warm greetings to our returning students. Your presence enriches our school community, and we look forward to the learning and experiences that lie ahead.
The first few weeks of school are always bustling with activity as we introduce routines and help our new students transition into their new environment. We kindly request your cooperation and support during this crucial period, as a smooth transition sets the tone for a successful academic year ahead. Your involvement and assistance are invaluable in helping your child feel comfortable and confident in their new surroundings.
For our Early Years Elementary School parents, we encourage you to review the class guide that was sent by your child's homeroom teacher last week. This guide serves as a quick reference to important reminders in various areas and can be a helpful resource as we navigate the year together. Additionally, we encourage open communication between parents and homeroom teachers. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to them.
We believe in the power of collaboration between home and school, and together, we can create an enriching and supportive learning environment for our students. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education, and we look forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and achievement.
Here's to a successful and rewarding academic year ahead!
Toddler

As a new school year begins to unfold, the toddlers are radiating remarkable enthusiasm for their time at school. It's as though it's not just the first day – each child in the class is embracing every moment with sheer delight. Our hearts were filled with immeasurable pride and joy as we shared priceless moments with these little ones. As they took their steps into the classroom, their faces were a blend of curiosity and excitement, creating an atmosphere of positivity that's perfect for collective learning and growth.
The day commenced with the class swaying and grooving to the rhythm of the most liked children's songs during Circle Time. One of the most cherished activities for these young learners was the exploration of colourful spaghetti using food colouring. Capturing snapshots of their happiness and curiosity, we witnessed their joyful interaction with the tactile experience of the spaghetti.
Your impressive participation has set a remarkable tone for the year ahead. Thank you also parents for your active participation in our activity.

We are delighted to see the little ones return to school; all wide-eyed, filled with awe and excitement. While some of them were a bit hesitant and shed a few tears while parting from their parents, we are confident that with each passing day, they will overcome this initial separation anxiety. As the week progressed, we observed less crying, and they began to make new friends. Little by little, they will adjust to the new environment, classroom routines, teachers, and their fellow classmates.
Though the beginning might be challenging, we are certain that these little ones will eventually find joy and happiness in their school experience.

Hip, hip, hooray for an amazing first day of Pre-K!
The air was filled with excitement, laughter, and anticipation as little explorers started a new academic year. With shy smiles, they bravely stepped into the school, eagerly making their way to the classroom, ready to embrace the day's adventures. They joined circle time, enjoyed pretend play, and joyfully danced with their old and new friends. Following this delightful beginning, they have started to follow some class routines, such as tidying up toys, eating their snacks together, and sitting with their friends in the same colour group. As the day came to a close, the children happily reunited with their parents, looking forward to more fun-filled days to come in Pre-K Hope. Let the excitement continue, and may this year be a remarkable and unforgettable ride for all!

“Kindergarten: where everyday moments become lifelong memories.” – Unknown
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and eager kindergarten 2 students entering the classroom on the first day of school. They see chairs, tables, and shelves full of books and toys. They were like busy bees buzzing about as they learnt new names, faces, and personalities! The routines and classroom agreements were set, and at the same time, the K2 students had fun passing the ball to play the “All About Me” game. Moreover, they proudly coloured the letters in their name and decorated their first day of school craft. What an exciting day to begin their lifelong memories!

Sweet Adventures: Learning, Friends, and Fun!
Today, our Grade 1 students stepped into the world of elementary school, embarking on a journey of learning, friendship, and precious memories.
To help them get acquainted, we organised a lively game of "Get-to-Know-You Bingo." Each student received a bingo card filled with fun facts about their classmates, and Audrey, AJ, and Sera were the first to call out BINGO!
In our bright and colourful candy-themed classroom, we set essential rules, gathering in a circle to brainstorm ideas on creating an enjoyable learning environment for everyone. Armed with crayons and markers, the G1 put their creativity to work on the poster.
They were also introduced to their class name: Unity. They enjoyed a clip that emphasised teamwork and enthusiastically completed a scavenger hunt in small groups.
Music played a special role in fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. They welcomed new classmates Logan, Jayden, Clara, and Juhwan with a song, bringing joy and a sense of belonging to the group.
Along with these fun activities, G1 also learnt about the school routines and other rules they need to follow.
Ms. Ayu and I are confident that the bonds formed on this first day will continue to grow, ensuring a year filled with growth, kindness, and countless sweet adventures for our Grade 1 students.
We are all in this together! Bring it on, Grade 1- Unity!
Grade 2

Making lots of friends, having fun, and working hard were the gist of the first day. 2nd Grade English students practised greeting one another and learned about recycling, and the school’s mission and vision. We also engaged our organisational skills and increased our vocabulary.
To help one another make friends, students played a game wherein they challenged themselves to see if they could recall the names of all the students in the classroom. Students enjoyed challenging their recall skills and increased their level of bravery and confidence.
Greeting each other can be tricky sometimes. To aid in this area, students worked in groups to learn the proper way to greet their friends in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Students now feel confident that they can greet their friends each day.
While discussing the school's vision and mission, a student mentioned how important recycling is and that we should care for our environment. The class enjoyed growing their brains and now feel ready to protect the environment around them.
Grade 3

It was an exciting moment for the 3rd graders as they started their AY 23-24 with a bang. Having one of the largest classes in elementary, the students in grade 3 welcomed their new friends with open arms. They got along from the get-go, and you would think that they had all been friends for a long time, but they all just met on the first day.
They had an exciting time making their own classroom rules and agreements. We had a fruitful conversation and interaction, discussing what is essential and important to maintaining a clean, safe, and respectful classroom. They embraced the values and goals of what a SWA student should be. They were able to understand the mission and vision of Sinarmas World Academy and how the pillars of SWA will help them become better people in the community, in their family, and in school.
Overall, it was an amazing first day of school for the third grade students.
Grade 4

The opening of school is always an exciting time for both students and teachers, but this year, the Grade 4 class has a special reason to be filled with enthusiasm. With the start of the new academic year, the class is not only embracing fresh opportunities to learn and grow but also welcoming three new students who are about to embark on an unforgettable journey.
Sinarmas World Academy is known for its inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, where every student is encouraged to embrace their individuality and uniqueness. Every student comes with their own set of experiences and talents. Our goal is to create a classroom community where everyone feels valued and respected.
To ensure a smooth transition for the whole class, various ice-breaking and getting-to-know-you activities were done to quickly form bonds and made the new additions feel like part of the family.
The opening of the school year has not only set the stage for academic achievements but also exemplified the power of inclusivity and acceptance. The Grade 4 class, with its three new students, has demonstrated the beauty of diversity and the strength that comes from supporting one another.
As the school year progresses, the new students will continue to thrive in their new environment, learning from their classmates as much as their classmates will learn from them. Together, they are embarking on a journey of learning, friendship, and growth—a journey that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on their lives and the lives of those around them.

• EMBRACE CHALLENGE • CREATE FUN • PRACTICE KINDNESS
We are Grade 5 Perseverance
“This is challenging,” said a Grade 5 student while working on a practice Checkpoint Paper during the second day of school.
Grade 5 brings on the grand challenge of Cambridge Checkpoint, a series of assessments for use in the final year of a child’s primary and secondary education. It allows schools to obtain an international benchmark of the students to identify and address learning needs.
Here is an example of a question from a past Grade 5 English Cambridge paper:
“This is so much fun,” said a Grade 5 student while playing a team building strategy game in the Grade 5 Homeroom. While fun is a valid goal in and of itself, the games in Grade 5 encourage collaboration, higher level thinking, planning, logic, etc. These are all skills that will prepare students for checkpoints and for life. For example, rather than just any board game, students are given chess and reversi (“Othello”) to enjoy and sharpen their strategy and logic skills.
“What you’ll remember most about this year is kindness: how kind you were to fellow students and how kind they were to you,” said one wise, old Grade 5 teacher. The Grade 5 students look forward to building their epic year on those three pillars: embracing challenge, creating fun, and practising kindness.
