Advanced Placement® (AP) Mathematics
Advanced Placement® (AP) Mathematics
Advanced Placement® (AP) Precalculus
Course Overview:
AP Precalculus prepares students for other college-level mathematics and science courses. Through regular practice, students build deep mastery of modeling and functions, and they examine scenarios through multiple representations. The course framework delineates content and skills common to college precalculus courses that are foundational for careers in mathematics, physics, biology, health science, social science, and data science.
Prerequisite(s):
Algebra 2
Credit:
1.0 AP/IB weighted credit (MA5005A, MA5005B)
Textbook:
Precalculus: Graphical, Numerical, Algebraic Common AP Edition, 11th Edition
Chapters 1-5 (required for AP exam)
Chapters 6-8 (as time allows)
Visit the AP Central AP Precalculus course page for more information about the course, including classroom resources and released free-response questions and scoring information.
Advanced Placement® (AP) Calculus AB
Course Overview:
AP Calculus AB is an introductory college-level calculus course. Students cultivate their understanding of differential and integral calculus through engaging with real-world problems represented graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally and using definitions and theorems to build arguments and justify conclusions as they explore concepts like change, limits, and the analysis of functions. AP Calculus AB is roughly equivalent to an introductory, one-semester college calculus course.
Prerequisite(s):
Precalculus with Trigonometry or AP Precalculus
Credit:
1.0 AP/IB weighted credit (MA5105A, MA5105B)
Textbook:
Calculus: Graphical, Numerical, Algebraic AP Edition, 6th Edition
Chapters 1-5, 6.1, 6.2, 6.4, 7.1-7.3, 8.2
Visit the AP Central AP Calculus AB course page for more information about the course, including classroom resources and released free-response questions and scoring information.
Advanced Placement® (AP) Calculus BC
Course Overview:
AP Calculus BC is a continuation of AP Calculus AB, an introductory college-level calculus course. Students cultivate their understanding of differential and integral calculus through engaging with real-world problems represented graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally and using definitions and theorems to build arguments and justify conclusions as they explore concepts like change, limits, and the analysis of functions. Both AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC are roughly equivalent to a two-semester sequence of introductory college calculus courses of a single variable.
Prerequisite(s):
AP Calculus AB
Credit:
1.0 AP/IB weighted credit (MA5110A, MA5110B)
Textbook:
Calculus: Graphical, Numerical, Algebraic AP Edition, 6th Edition
All AP Calculus AB content is assessed on the AP Calculus BC exam. See AP Calculus AB for specific chapters and sections.
Exclusive AP Calculus BC content: Sections 6.1 (Euler’s Method only), 6.3, 6.5, 7.4, 8.1, 8.3, 8.4, Chapters 9-10
Visit the AP Central AP Calculus BC course page for more information about the course, including classroom resources and released free-response questions and scoring information.
Advanced Placement® (AP) Statistics
Course Overview:
AP Statistics is an introductory college-level statistics course that introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students cultivate their understanding of statistics using technology, investigations, problem solving, and writing as they explore concepts like variation and distribution; patterns and uncertainty; and data-based predictions, decisions, and conclusions.
Prerequisite(s):
Algebra 2
Credit:
1.0 AP/IB weighted credit (MA5215A, MA5215B)
Textbook:
Stats: Modeling the World AP Edition, 6th Edition
Chapters 1-26
Visit the AP Central AP Statistics course page for more information about the course, including classroom resources and released free-response questions and scoring information.
