Practice attendance is extremely important and it is expected that if you're going to play on the golf team that you will attend every single practice. More than anything communication is important. Should you have a doctors appointment or have an emergency please contact Mr. Bird. If you do not show up to practice the following actions are taken.
1st Unexcused absence from practice = Your punishment is to varies team tasks during the next practice including cleaning clubs, helping the golf course with some work, picking the range, burpee pyramids, ect....
2nd unexcused absence from practice= You will be suspended from playing in the next tournament
3rd unexcused absence from practice= We will have a sit-down and you will be indefinitely suspended and perhaps even cut from the team.
The most important rule on this team is integrity. If you make a mistake on the golf course and its a stoke penalty, then you should take the penalty under any circumstance. Cheating will not be tolerated whatsoever on this team. If you are caught cheating you will be immediately cut from the golf team.
Being an Erie Tiger means no throwing or breaking clubs, no swearing or yelling on the course, being courteous to you fellow teammates and competitors. We help teammates and competitors look for lost golf balls as well as help watch their shots to determine the shot location. Finally we know the rules of golf so that we can fully utilize them on the course.
Always check the calendar from practices times and information. Practice will typically begin promptly at 3pm and you are expected to be there on time and READY to listen. Should you arrive 15-20 minutes early you are welcome to chip and putt. No running on the putting greens or around the practice facilities. When playing rounds, your objective should be to get better but also to keep up pace of place.
During the 2018-2019 school year the expectations for making the team look like this.
Boys: Besides being graded on the range for your swing and consistency, you will also be asked to complete various putting drills. During the two day tryout you will also be ranked based on how you score. It is expected on this team that you will be able to break 100 constantly for at least this year. In the future we would like all golfers to be able to break 90.
The maximum number of golfers on the team will be 12. 12 will only be kept though if golfers 9-12 are close. In that case 9-12 will be invited to practice on a rotating basis to ensure that we comply with the size demands of the golf course. HOWEVER it is likely and our goal is to only carry about 10 players.

Summer is the best time in high school to improve your game. Your goal should be to be at the golf course 2-3 times per week in the summer. I strongly encourage each player to get their own swing coach/ teaching professional to give you lessons. Although attending any summer camps with the Erie Program is recommended, it is not mandatory. Also don't forget to be a kid and have fun!
