Project Goal
In the wake of the pandemic, many schools have adapted by adopting online learning classes. Students and teachers alike needed to work together in order to create a functioning learning environment inside their homes, this was to avoid the further spreading of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19). Although online mediums have proven their effectiveness in terms of convenience and efficiency, there are cases where students are unable to learn at an optimum level due to distractions in their own respective environments. Speaking from my personal experience, learning virtually poses a degree of difficulty that mass surveys and research papers are simply unable to represent. Often, I require further individual studies to fully understand and comprehend the topic that was taught in class.
The team and I plan to help aid those students willing to deepen and strengthen their academic knowledge. Cooperating with teachers and perhaps substituting them, we plan to create a server where most academic advice is easily accessible. Establishing a learning community in the process to inspire those who feel discouraged in learning. We want to know their issues, their problems, and their feedback in order to better ourselves and convey to the teacher in the long run.
Our group believes that an online student-led tutoring session will be one of the most effective methods of teaching other students, especially seniors to juniors. Our interactions will be held online, so as to avoid the dangers of the pandemic. We will create a discord server, a well-known media application, and utilize its various unique features for academic purposes. As a side product, we also plan to create a website documenting and listing down topics we have covered so anyone can revisit previously discussed topics. This website will also act as our backup plan. In case that our server receives few direct tutoring requests, we will instead create tutorial videos and enrich our site. The topics we will cover will include mathematics, sciences, English, Bahasa Indonesia, and general skills (preview for DP subjects, courses, and [QoL] quality of life skills).
Learning Outcome
LO1: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
This learning outcome would be achieved by simply running and maintaining both the discord server and the website. Our server will act as physical evidence of our tutoring actions, while we will create a compilation and record important milestones along the way. Our commitment and perseverance will not only be shown by the evidence but also the product of our endeavours. The website, discord server, and the end of the program student reviews.
LO2: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working, collaboratively
This project is not a one-man task, it will require collaborative work. Research published by Gaskell, A. from Forbes suggests that working collaboratively will improve our performance in doing our project. Our project will have multilayered management; Material research, Website Building, and most importantly the tutoring itself. Collaborative work will be required to distribute the load so as to keep CAS a project we can do without bothering our academic lives. The success of the project will be proof of our success in our collaborative work, as well as our group management.
LO3: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
As many students are having problems with their academics, we will be engaging with the issues of global significance. Research done by the University of Illinois exposed that one fatal issue with online classes is student discipline and literacy of technology. This also applies to the teachers and faculty members who aren’t used to teaching their students using the complete tools at their disposal, leading to severe inefficiencies. Our project aims to combat this global issue of learning inefficiency, especially for those students who are struggling to keep up with classes using the online medium due to unsatisfactory or inefficient teaching methods.
Many students are stressed out due to the pressure from school teachers and parents when it comes to academics. We will support their academics and help them to understand their studies even more.
LO4: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
We must conduct our tutoring sessions ethically by acknowledging academic honesty. Our activities will not involve providing direct answers to the students’ questions or doing the students’ schoolwork for them. But instead, we will teach them how to come up with solutions to the problems they are facing by teaching them to solve similar problems.

Description
We had actually made the first draft for the CAS project in creating an in-game world through Minecraft where we would build the ideal school environment. Although we then realized that our backup plan was actually much much better than our main idea which was to create a discord server in which students are able to communicate with us if they require help. We directly made a new draft of our backup idea that was going to become our main one whilst I contacted the supervisor to notify the existence of our new goal for the CAS project. We spent hours making the new draft showing perseverance, everyone was doing something which really proved us being able to work effectively as a group. We realized that creating a sort of chat where juniors were able to ask questions to us would better show engagement to an issue of global significance as students were struggling with their studies because of online learning that changed the learning environment 360 degrees. It was so funny and I still remember it although vividly that when we were discussing the backup idea we were awed by it. All in all, we were able to finish a decent portion of the new draft and we should be able to finish it sometime this or next week. The current stage that we are in is mostly dedication work whereas it’s still just typing our proposal so we can actually do the action itself. Moreover, today really expanded me in being an open-minded person, I actually sort of opposed the idea of making the new draft but my friends enticed me in finally agreeing to it.

Description
Mr Shaun is voicing concerns over students (my junior) in middle school that are experiencing difficulties in finishing their task, some even having not finished a number of tasks from their first semester. That day could be very important for us as everyone was exhilarated knowing there was a space for us to work in and help. In the months of hurdles in finding students to help in, we got someone to help and there was said to be a quiet amount of students, our commitment to doing this project turns out for the better. Because Mr Shaun stated that there were a number of students we decided to work collaboratively by deciding a strategy on how to approach this predicament, the first choice is for one person to take one to two students each or those students can join just our discord chat and ask freely. Personally, I was excited cause the moment I have been waiting for has come earlier than expected. For me, this experience contributes to not only mines but also our caring towards others as we help MYP students to overcome their predicament. It means a lot to me as I really hope that by caring for others at this moment that they too will help others in the coming future when they will be having juniors.

Description
I think and I believe that this is the very first-ever action that I got for this discord discourse project, I can't tell you how excited I was. Metalbeard888 a student in SVP that joined our discord server asked a math question and interestingly he sent it around midnight where everyone was mostly asleep or going to sleep thankfully Kanza notified me and others of it. However, as I was too thrilled I had a sort of sense of responsibility to help him as it was part of showing my commitment and perseverance. I arrived at the conclusion that it's an issue of global significance as not a lot of people are awake to help him and yet I along with Tobias was still there to help him despite until one or two in the morning. It was my first time so I was quite nervous which I think comes from how excited I am, unfortunately rather than helping him instead I gave him the answer. Thankfully Tobias was there to help remind me and also clarify my work to be more easily understood. I think that this helped me in becoming more reflective as I am sure there are a lot more people that will be asking for help and I need to stop giving out answers. All in all, it was a really pleasurable experience.

Description
It really pains me hard to say this but my group's project might be on the brink of destruction. I say this because our original expectation in having a lot of students asking questions turns out to be only some people asking questions from time to time. Today Mr Shaun recommended for us to do the alternative project which really made my heart shiver in sorrow which I think comes from disappointment in myself because this experience means a whole lot to me and it's failing. The silver lining is that none of us wants to give up, I think that our commitment to this project isn't that of normal dedication because we really want to do this with or without the support of our supervisor. We won't falter in the face of adversity. It's failing but we want to make it succeed as much as possible, one of the new plans that I want to discuss with Tobias is in finishing the website and sharing the link on SVP's website or require the assistance of Sir Torres to help share our site.
