The first activity is a video explaining what an array is and how to label one. The next activity (Around the House Arrays) is a fun activity for the students to try. The next three activities are for your child to practice arrays. If you are able to print things off, the activity that has letters is a fun one for students. These activities are called Scoot activities because it gets your child up and moving. You print off the arrays and cut them. You then go around a room/house and tape them at various places and the kids will go around and label the arrays. They love getting up and moving! The last activity are just several activities that go with fractions!
This week, the students will begin by looking at 4 ways to visualize multiplication. We will then focus on skip counting to find answers to multiplication problems.
1. Below is a video lesson explaining the 4 ways to show multiplication. To the right is a chart showing students the 4 ways to show multiplication. There is nothing the students have to do with the chart, I just wanted them to have it as a reference.
2. Click on the picture to the right and do the 4 Ways to Show Multiplication activity. Have fun :)
3. Listen to these two fun videos to learn how to skip count by 2 and 3. Watch them several times to practice your skip counting. Enjoy!
4. Complete the worksheets below. Solve the problems and then color!
1. Interactive Clock: Parents will need to use the worksheet to the right and the student will have to use the link to show the parent the correct time on the clock.
2. Watch the video to the right. It is over elapsed time.
3. Complete the worksheet over elapsed time to the right.
4. Watch the videos below. They are fun ways to review skip counting by 4's and 5's. After watching them, complete the worksheets below the videos to practice skip counting by 4's and 5's.
Parents, this is just an extra worksheet to review skip counting by 2, 3, and 4. They can even just read off the answers to you if you would like!
1. Watch the video to the right, it is over elapsed time to the 1/2 hour.
2. Complete the worksheet to the right over elapsed time to the 1/2 hour.
3. Watch the video to the right. It is review on how to skip count.
4. Click on the video's below to learn how to skip count by 6 and 7. I hope the student's enjoy these videos and want to watch them over and over again. It really helps them learn their multiples! After watching the videos, click on the link on ABCYa.com (link is attached) to practice skip counting by 6 and 7. It should take you right to the game called "Adventure Man and the Counting Quest." Click on the green triangle to begin. Click on play. Click next. Then choose either 6 or 7 (which ever one you want to practice). Click on the very first circle/level. Enjoy and have fun!
1. Watch the Elapsed time to the nearest 5 minutes video (you will have to scroll down a little bit to see the video on the left hand side. Below are 4 task cards the students can use solving elapsed time to the nearest 5 minutes. They will need a sheet of paper and if a number line helps them to solve the problem, they will need to create their own. They do not have to create a number line, I am just looking for the correct answer.
Below are two videos to practice skip counting by 8 and 9. Have your child watch them several times (as many times as they want to!) Below the videos are activities to help your child practice skip counting by 8 and 9. For 8's I have included a worksheet. For 9's, it is a jump rope activity. It is a little song/rhythm patter they can jump rope to.
This week we will continue our discussion over elapsed time but to the nearest minute. The video below to the left will explain how to do that. The video below to the right is just a fun video to watch that shows various ways to solve elapsed time. Below is a worksheet. Please remember, your child can solve these problems any way that is best for them, they do not need to use a number line.
This week we will continue practice our multiplication facts. This week we will learn how to multiply by 0, 1, and 10! This should be a fun easy week with multiplying!!!! Below are some fun videos for your child to watch. Then there are three worksheets to complete practicing multiplying by 0, 1, and 10.
WOW! Your child has done so much for me throughout our online adventure. I am so proud of them for their hard work. I have two fun activities. They do not have to do both activities. The first activity below is a packet that they can work on this week and next. The second activity is a review of multiplication skills. This will not take nearly as long as the packet so they should be able to complete it this week.
You can use this packet as a two week activity. This packet is a math mystery packet where they will use their answers to solve a mystery. It is a great review of different math skills that we learned this year. However, there is one page that has division. We have not learned division so my suggestion is to allow them to learn how to use a calculator to solve these problems. I hope they enjoy it and I can not wait to see who the Super Bad Superhero is!!!
This is a fun little review over multiplication. They will use their answers to color the mystery picture. I wonder who or what it is????
I can not believe this is the last week of school! I appreciate all the work that your child has done! This week, they are welcome to finish the Super Bad Superhero packet that was posted on last weeks assignments. They can also go to Mathplayground.com or ABCYA and play any of the games to practice their multiplication facts. On ABCya, they will have to search for multiplication games. I have added more assignments on Khan Academy and they are welcome to continue to play on Sumdog.
