My Grading PROCEDURES & POLICIES
Class averages are calculated using a point system. Graded assignments, labs and assessments that are lengthy will be worth more points than others. On parent portal you will see there are three categories to student overall averages:
Marking period homework average: These assignments will be completed in class and for homework. Students will receive full credit for completing each question to the best of their ability. If the assignment is incomplete or late students will earn half credit. Students will not receive credit if the assignment is not completed before we go over the answers in class. Extra credit is offered frequently to make up missed assignments. All assignments will be averaged together at the end of the marking period and will be worth a total of 100 points averaged into their overall average.
The purpose of these homework assignments is for review. If your child is spending more than 15 minutes a night on homework, please have them see me for extra help.
Graded homework and labs: Some homework assignments and ALL labs will be collected, graded and averaged into the student's overall average. These assignments will be accepted late until the end of each unit.
Assessments: Quizzes and tests will be based on notes, homework, lab activities, analysis questions and bell ringer questions. Each assessment will be graded and averaged into the student's overall average. Maintaining a well-organized notebook and folder and completing all homework assignments would improve the overall performance on assessments.
