Grading Policy
My Grading PROCEDURES & POLICIES
Report card grades will be calculated as follows: Participation Grade = 10%
You will begin each 5 weeks with a 100% participation grade. Your participation grade will be determined by averaging the checkmarks for your non-graded homework assignments and then subtracting points for each violation they receive during the 5 weeks.
Missing/late non-graded homework = 4 points (An email/note will be sent home after 2.)
Missing materials = 2 points
Disrespectful/disruptive behavior = 5 points
Homework that is corrected in class will be graded as follows as part of the participation grade:
(Check with a star) - assignment is completely finished and was done with great effort
(Check with a plus) - assignment is incomplete/in need of more effort
(Check alone) - assignment is not completed/little or no effort is seen
(Check with a minus) - assignment is missing/completely blank
Graded Homework = 25%
Graded assignments will be collected as needed based on our work in class.
Late graded assignments will automatically lose 10 points unless you have a valid reason for it being incomplete. You will have until the following day to complete the missing/incomplete assignment or receive a zero. An email or note will be sent home to notify parents of the zero.
I will allow certain assignments to be redone in order to help you learn from your mistakes. Please understand that you will not get this option if you simply work carelessly. Making corrections will be at my discretion, and students will be notified when that is an option.
I do most of my weekly grading over the weekend.
Grades are entered into SchoolTools by Monday or Tuesday unless corrections are able to be made. Then, grades will be entered once the corrections have been graded.
Quizzes and In-Class Assignments: 30%
These will be short quizzes or assignments reviewing content that we have been working on over a number of days in class.
Tests/Projects/Longer Writing Assignments: 35%
There will not be many major tests as I quiz students on skills as we move through each skill or unit. I will announce any tests that are planned along with reviewing what will be covered.
The instructions for projects and longer writing assignments will be covered in class, along with the due date. Often, time is given in class for students to work and/or ask for questions or guidance.
