Grading Policy

DUAL CREDIT GRADING POLICY:

Students will ALWAYS have a long-term deadline from me (think: 3-4 weeks) so it is essential that you budget your time working backwards from it.
Assignments are due at the beginning of class on their due date, with no exceptions
BEING ABSENT DOES NOT EXCUSE YOU FROM A DUE DATE; instead, I will expect to receive the assignment digitally
EXPECT SIGNIFICANT PENALTY FOR LATE WORK ON LONG-RANGE ASSIGNMENTS.

Ex: Papers: - 10 pts for each school day late

*Final Grade = 4 Quarters (22.5% each) + Final Project (10%)

AP LIT. GRADING POLICY:

ENG 12 GRADING POLICY:

DUE DATES ARE IMPORTANT!
Students will have long-term deadlines (week or more) so DUE DATES ARE HONORED at the beginning of class for full credit
LATE WORK POLICY: MISSING WORK (ZEROES) MAY BE MADE-UP FOR HALF CREDIT (50)
BEING ABSENT DOES NOT EXCUSE YOU FROM A DUE DATE
Plagiarism on assignments is an automatic ZERO.
Students often receive a 4pt grade for completion of the day's activity in class, following the below grading scale:

4- Excellent / 3- Satisfactory / 2- Needs Improvement / 1-Poor

0- Absent (Rubric available HERE & in Google Classroom)

*Your Final Grade for Course = 4 Quarters (each 25%)

English 9 Honors Grading Policy:

As a selective Honors class, this course requires a higher level of self-management for 9th grade .

-Writing is evaluated as a process, including planning, drafting, & revising before a final grade is determined

-Any HW is graded on effort/completion, not accuracy

Late Work Policy:

-All assignments will be clearly communicated, with long-ranging due dates (typically a week or more)

-Late assignments will be accepted at 50% credit (with rare, legitimate exceptions).

*Final Grade for Course = 4 Qtrs. (20% each) + Midterm Exam (10%) + Final Exam (10%)

Senior Seminar is a half-credit elective course, graded on a Pass/Fail basis.

Students "pass" by being present and actively participating in all class activities.
